The U.S. Department of Transportation said it has terminated the approval of congestion pricing in Manhattan on Wednesday and that this "effectively ends" the controversial tolling program, according to a press release announcing the decision.

Two reasons for rescinding congestion pricing approval​

In a letter to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, newly installed U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said there were two main reasons for rescinding the approval — just weeks after congestion pricing began, once the Biden administration and a federal judge issued a green light.
Duffy called the program "unprecedented" by providing no toll-free option into a major urbanized area, and said the toll rate was primarily set to raise revenue for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, rather than the amount needed to reduce congestion.

DOT grants to States for highways and roads comes with restrictions and stipulations.

NYC accepted federal funds under the Federal Aid Highway program.

That's why they needed DOT approval to implement the plan in the first place..

Hochul is the proverbial "king" or queen. You see she is at the palace eating and living top shelf on the peasant's dime. We have to many men and women in politics who are inferior to many of the peasants who pay the freight in larger government expenditure reality.
