Donald Trump may be remembered as the most honest president in modern American history. Don’t get me wrong, Trump lies all the time. He said that he “enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in American history” (actually they are the eighth-largest) and that “our economy is the strongest it’s ever been in the history of our country” (which may one day be true, but not yet). In part, it’s a New York thing — everything is the biggest and the best.

But when it comes to the real barometer of presidential truthfulness — keeping his promises — Trump is a paragon of honesty. For better or worse, since taking office, Trump has done exactly what he promised he would do.

Trump kept his promise to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, something his three immediate predecessors also promised yet failed to do. He promised to “crush and destroy ISIS,” and two years later he is on the verge of eliminating Islamic State’s physical caliphate. He promised to impose a travel ban on countries that he saw as posing a terrorist threat, and after several false starts the final version of his ban was upheld by the Supreme Court.

Trump pledged to nominate Supreme Court justices “in the mold of Justice (Antonin) Scalia,” and now Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh sit on the high court. Trump also pledged to fill the federal appellate courts with young, conservative judges, and so far the Senate has confirmed 29 — more than any recent president at this point in his administration.

Trump promised to cancel President Barack Obama’s Clean Power Plan, withdraw from the Paris climate accord, approve the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, and open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to exploration. He fulfilled all of those pledges.

On trade, he kept his promise to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and impose tariffs on steel and aluminum. He also committed to renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement and the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement — and recently signed new deals with Mexico, Canada and South Korea. He committed to imposing tariffs on China to force it to open its markets and stop its theft of intellectual property — and is following through on that pledge. Whatever one thinks of Trump’s trade policies, he is doing exactly what he said.

He may be the most honest President in the history of Planet Hyperbole, but here on Planet Earth, we're told by his own people to "take him seriously but not literally".

Even THEY don't try to deny that nothing he says is to be believed.
.
The things he BS’s about are meaningless. They affect no one, and have nothing to do with the operation of the government. That’s their point, and I totally agree.

But everything he has promised, he is doing. All my life I have paid little or no attention to what anyone says and paid close attention to what they DO. That has served me very well.

You need to redefine what honest means.
In his case, honest means to say out loud on twitter whatever his baby-brain thinks.
Yet, the trouble is that effectively nothing his brain thinks is correct or accurate or truthful.
The result is his supporters confuse disingenuous with dishonest.

Lol good god. Cherry picking a few fulfilled promises does not mean jack shit. Come on, really? We are supposed to believe Trump is a paragon of honesty because of a few fulfilled promises. This is how desperate the RW has become.

Let me see if I am following this attempt at logic. Because Facebook uses a source, that automatically means the source is bullshit? Huh? This says nothing about the validity of the sources themselves. Sure, you shouldn’t trust a lot of what you see on FB, but people using these sites doesn’t somehow invalidate them.

they also confuse mental illness with 'saying it like it is'.

Trump Lies

What Progressives get hung up on is the fact that WE (Conservatives) DO NOT CARE about his exaggerations, crudeness, brashness, and whatever else. It is not important! RESULTS matter.

Failed former President Barack Hussein Obama failed because he was not and never will be an EXECUTIVE. He never ran anything larger than an ACORN meeting. He could not make a decision. He had to meet with his advisors, then they would go back and ponder what he heard, then they'd meet again and still not make a decision. Give him a couple of teleprompters and a stage and he's great. Not nearly on a level of Bill Clinton but he did okay. Without a teleprompter and you would think he was at his first Toastmasters meeting trying table topics.

Two examples.
The pirates who took Capt. Richard Phillips' ship, the Maersk Alabama. President Obama sent the destroyer with Navy Seals on board. President Obama canceled three plans of rescue. Finally, the ship commander gave the order feeling that the captain's life was in imminent danger. The Seal snipers took out the three pirates on the lifeboat without injuring Phillips. Crisis averted and Obama took bows all around.

Obama rejected two plans for taking out Osama Bin Laden before allowing the attack.

Businessmen, executives can't afford that luxury. They have to make a decision and don't have time to second guess or ponder for weeks. That's another reason Progressives hate Trump, he has accomplished more in twenty months than Obama did in eight years.

Yeah Trump talks too much, yet he is delivering on his campaign promises, which, to be honest, we aren't used to. At least here in Europe. This infuriates some, who prefer the usual game in diplomacy. He is shaking it up and career politicans don't like that one bit. Keep pretending the UN works. Keep pretending the status quo is going to spontaneously change though everyone keeps doing what they have been doing. He has even gotten Turkey to release that pastor whereas Merkel can't get German/Turkish journalists released despite continued "talks". I prefer him over those who pretend all is well while their countries are burning to the ground.
