Trump can not reopen the economy too soon, because he did not close the economy

Individual governors did that, and only those governors can reopen their states.

Not sure why CNN is screaming that Trump is going to open things too soon because he can't
CNN, like the rest of us, is afraid he's gonna start pushing and issuing orders he isn't really allowed to but when has that ever stopped him? Republican legislative bodies and governors will listen, and many more people will die.

So why has your Obergruppenführer been running around slamming his gums talking about he's going to "open back up the country?"

It's called "spreading optimism" and "giving the American people hope."

Presidents do those things sometimes, that's why we pay them the big bucks.
Funny. You guys slammed Obama for that.

During the 8 years he was in office, Obama never said or did one single thing that made me feel optimistic or hopeful, except for knowing he would leave the office some day.

"Hope and Change"? Horse manure.

I can say that about Trump.
Funny how Trump said we do not need illegals walking in and now no democrat will challenge this because Chinese were among the losers walking in
Not sure what that has to do with hope and optimism, but what ever.
Not having illegals bringing in disease, drugs and death is optimistic. Do you disagree?
They didnt bring in corona.
Actually there were 480,000 Chinese visitors to the USA this year before Trump enacted the travel ban that people like you called him racist for doing.

Funnier yet is that Trump closed the border and neither you or Pelosi opened their mouths at all.

Good girls

80000 Americans died in 2018 from the flu and no one cared, now they are predicting 60000 deaths.

Yawn

Yes kid 80000 Americans died from the flu in the 2017 2018 season, everyone knows but you and the fools listening to the midget babbling lies from the CDC

Sept. 27, 2018 -- Influenza was deadlier last season than it has been for at least four decades, killing 80,000 Americans. So said the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention late Tuesday in an interview with the Associated Press.

Play on I never make stuff up because the truth hurts fools like you a lot more

Only thing he can do is open Federal Agencies and lands within the State but when it come to State, Local and Private affairs he ( The President ) has little control over that matter.

Sorry to burst your bubble on this...

Because Trump stated he has the power to override Governors. He doesn't but he believes he can.

The only power Trump has over the governors is to withhold funds which would bring them all to their knees. Here is the thing, the Feds can print money and the states can't they live on tax revenue and are hurting way more than the feds. Cuomo from NY is already planning to reopen as soon as he can, so when millions more die in NY blame him not Trump

I dislike tramp and most on CNN do as well. He is a crooked man and whore, whore for money and whore for women. He is also a female assaulter, and a compulsive liar. He is a amoral arse. He makes Obama look like such a gentleman.

Most humans are whores for those things you listed but you just hate Trump because he is a Republican...

So why has your Obergruppenführer been running around slamming his gums talking about he's going to "open back up the country?"

When a Dem/Lib wants to hate on Trump they invoke Nazism.

Why is that?

Yawn

People who keep pushing this comparison are dangerously ignorant.

Flu
vaccines available
human population has herd immunity
80000 deaths, no disease mitigation measures
well understood virus

Covid19
no vaccine
new to human population, no herd immunity
rapidly and easily transmitted before symptoms manifest
degree of immunity after exposure not yet known
60000 deaths despite aggressive mitigation measures.
Hospitals overwhelmed

Well, the truth is, nobody really knows with any certainty.

The reasons for that are manifold, and have to do with lack of testing and the fact that adult flu deaths are not required to be reported to the CDC. So, they are using surveys and modeling to arrive at their numbers.

Incidentally, that's also the problem with opening the economy again, lack of clear insight into the spread of the pandemic.

But then, no matter how that is going to play out, a president declaring "I have absolute authority" should concern everyone. Things aren't getting better once that declaration is being topped by (paraphrasing), "The States need us, they are going to go along," hinting at the Ukraine-model of extortion writ-large with the population, potentially, of the entire U.S. held hostage to Trump's Mob Boss designs. How is that not top news everywhere? Have we become so inured and apathetic, no one really notices any more?

The flu vaccine is essentially a placebo, except that the people who get the flu vaccine have a higher rate of flu infection than those who do not. See the flu mutates and the vaccine is always 1 year to 18 months behind so when you get a flu vaccine you have zero protection against the new mutated strain. If this were not true then the flu vaccine would be mandatory, however people like me would protest and present these valid points so they can not make a BS flu vaccine mandatory.

You didn't know that or you would not be babbling about the flu vaccine.

LOL, you are also not aware that you are defending everything the Trump team is saying instead of looking at the situation logically.

But that's ok you keep believing everything on TV

I'm not convinced you know as much as you think you do or that you are looking at the situation logically - balancing economy and public health.

As an FYI - I seldom watch TV. Perhaps you do.

The flu virus mutates, that is a no brainer, Captain Obvious. Because of that it is reformulated every year to include what new strains are showing up. It's estimated that it's effective 40-60% of the time, which is enough to recommend it to vulnerable populations.

According to Johns Hopkins: coronavirus-disease-2019-vs-the-flu

While both the flu and COVID-19 may be transmitted in similar ways (see the Similarities section above), there is also a possible difference: COVID-19 might be spread through the airborne route, meaning that tiny droplets remaining in the air could cause disease in others even after the ill person is no longer near.

and

COVID-19: No vaccine is available at this time, though it is in progress.

Flu: A vaccine is available and effective to prevent some of the most dangerous types or to reduce the severity of the flu.

The flu (in case you did not know it) is also of a completely different virus family than the corona virus. It may not behave the same, it might not confer the same level or length of immunity (all are unknowns).

There are some other key differences in terms of what Covid does compared to the flu. It attacks the body in different ways, and particularly the lungs. There is some evidence it can cause long term lung damage that persists even after a person recovers. So brushing it off, when a lot is not well known, and so many people have been so sick that hospitals are overwhelmed is foolish.

No hospitals have been overwhelmed.

Yes, Virginia, hospitals in hard hit areas have been overwhelmed.
