The Republican Party has steadfastly stood against any ban on so-called "assault weapons." It seems incredibly ironic that those pushing for another Trump term would stand behind a man who argued in favor of one. Guns is one of the political third rails and Trump's record on that issue is spotty at best. Why do the Democrats get beaten over the head when proposing an assault weapons ban, but Trump gets a pass from his followers?
Nonetheless, Trump listened to Feinstein, heard from a few more gun control proponents—including Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL)—then looked back at Feinstein and told her she should add her bill to the Manchin/Toomey bill for consideration.
