He'd be foolish to tangle with Trump.

It's lose-lose for Desantis. He's tarnished either way. If Trump beats him...he's the next Jeb Bush. If he beats Trump he's the next Mike Pence.

If he beats Trump and loses the General... which he will because he will have made enemies of the very base he needs to turn out to vote for him... then his name mud. If he loses Trump will make sure he's NOT the nominee in 2028.

From the other side...if he sits this one out...

If Trump wins the general... he only gets one term... and DeSantis runs in 2028 with Trump's blessing.

If Trump loses... Desantis runs in 2028 with Trump's blessing... and has an even better chance of winning without Trump's VP in his way... Also with Trump's endorsement.

I wouldn't count any chickens; I think there's a fair chance he wins the nomination but not the general election no matter who the democrat nominee is. I'll vote for whoever the GOP nominee is, even if it's Trump cuz I can't stand the democrats and what they're doing and want to do to this country. But I suspect there's too many people who don't want him as our president. IOW, he's worn out his welcome and people are tired of his act. He should STFU about the 2020 election, but I don't think he can do that and it's going to cost him the election IMHO.
