Agreed. It is pure stupidity on the part of the government. If you're in debt and you end up with a surplus--you pay down the debt and save on useless interest payments. It isn't rocket science.
Here in WA, ex gov. Jay Inslee and the democrats spent us into oblivion and then Inslee walked away leaving the citizens to pick up the tab. Now the incoming admin has to deal with multi-billion dollar deficits and the democrats in the legislature are all clamoring for tax increases on specific groups of taxpayers instead of putting the burden on EVERY taxpayer in the state. They wouldn't want to burden the entire electorate because they might lose the next election. What is really discouraging is the fact that the sentiment is, "Well, as long as MY taxes don't increase, I don't care." SMFH
