Trump administration says deportations threaten higher food prices

The supply chain and grocery shelves were screwed up long before Trump did this.

I don't understand why there aren't enough legal work visas issued to meet the harvesting demand. Something isn't adding up.
Because THAT program is a disaster

Get this: Donald Trump’s own Labor Department is straight-up warning that with fewer illegals sneaking across the border to help out, farms are running out of hands to pick all the fruits and veggies. Stuff’s rotting right in the fields because good ol’ Americans just aren’t lining up for those back-breaking jobs in the sun.
You know we have a legal migratory worker program in the US.

The downside is... they don't work for slave wages.

The Democrats have become the Pro-Slavery party once again.

As someone who voted for you twice, Mr. President, I’m begging: Open the gates for Juan and María and their crew. Our farms (and our wallets) need ‘em back…let’s keep America fed and fabulous!
Twice, eh? She must be pretty dumb if she didn't get the hint from the first time or his subsequent campaign.

I suppose, really, she didn't think the leopards she voted for would eat her face.

Bigly sad.

MAGA 'Murica.

Reality is to be avoided at all costs.

All that’s mandated is minimum wage
And legal and safety protections.

If farms have a very simple avenue for hiring LEGAL immigrant migrant workers... then ask yourself, what is the advantage for them in hiring illegal immigrants?

I'll give you a big clue.

Less wages. Substandard housing. Less safety protections. Less insurance. The power to threaten any employee with deportation.

Who are they going to complain to?

You make a great argument for expanding the guest worker program and streamlining it

I agree.

So why isn’t that happening?

One reason is that Republicans would no longer have their bogeyman

Ok, Let's see if you actually know what you're talking about, or just labeling everything with "Trump did it" without any knowledge of what you're talking about....So, tell us, what exactly did Trump do that disrupted supply chains?

Come on Lesh, you are sounding like a hammer in search of every Republican nail...Do you even know (without looking it up) who is in charge of temp worker visas? Or, how they are processed?

I know the system doesn’t work

Do you think it does?

There are less than 1million H1B visa holders in the US with just over 100,000 processed per year

Nope. Not working

Ok, but that wasn’t really the question.

I think before you start criticizing Trump, and the system in general, you should have a cursory understanding of how it’s implemented, and what the factors are that cause you to believe it is not working. Fair?

So, your answer is you telling us, you don’t know how it’s implemented, how it’s broken, or what’s needed to fix it, but only that “it’s Trump’s fault” …

Just partisan blather.
