Trump administration considering selling off some student loan debt

Another reason to take it away from the government is to prevent Democrats, whenever they regain power, from arbitrarily deciding to “forgive” the loans of high-earning professionals and putting it on the backs of working class.

Before Obama killed the private student loan industry (it was hidden in the Obamacare legislation), companies were making the loans themselves.

This would merely be returning it to private in order to help downsize the government.

yes, because the big Bankers would never, ever try to screw working people.

Oh, wait. The main reason why the government took it over was because the banks were screwing working people. And required a huge bailout in the Aughts. Where they tried to screw working people some more.

Except no one has done that.

Here's the problem with a student loan. You can't repossess a college degree.

I default on my mortgage, the bank will take my house, even if they can't sell it for what I paid for it.

Same with a car. Even though the retail value has gone down, they will still repo the car.

They can't really repossess your degree.

I have my simple enough solution. Everyone has to do two years of National Service, after which they get a free ticket to college.

Done.
