The motality rate is still 2.5%. That would be 12,500 of the 500k in the last week. A severe case rate of 5% would obviously be double.
Now if you had half a brain or the ability to use it, you might notice that deaths from Covid typically follow a severe case. That would mean that the severe case rate must at least match the mortality rate. Now, since not every severe case results in death, the severe case rate must be higher than the mortality rate.

Let's put this info in perspective. The increase in cases is no joke to be written off as simply "testing".
These numbers represent real people who will need a hospital bed for at least some time. Given that some ICU stays can be 10-20 days and there are approximately 55k ICU hospital beds in America, it doesnt require much imagination to see a looming problem if infection rates are not reduced.

I showed you the decreasing severe case rate, again straight from Worldmeters. Only .5% of any cases require a visit to the hospital you are whacked.
