Trump Admin Saves Jobs, Kicks 1500 Non-English-Speaking Truckers Off the Road

many states in the U.S. offer driver's license exams in languages other than English.
Given that English has recently been proclaimed to be the Official Language of the United States, that will change.

why is English suddenly a requirement
If you can't read the road signs and communicate effectively in the Official Language of the country you shouldn't drive.

Now you're making a lot of exceptions to your absolute rule.

And the scorpions rock band came here to work harder than any trucker. A multimillion dollar tour through the USA.

So what happened to your rule?
Apples to Oranges. I don't see what the problem is with kicking non-English speaking truckers off the road in the US.

You can proclaim all day long. ✊✊✊✊

There are a lot of accidents lately and they are not exactly caused by those who supposedly don't speak English. I'm leaving you to draw your own conclusions.

Well I don't know about in the flyover states, but on the coasts they speak multiple languages.
No they don't. I lived in Los Angeles for years, I lived in San Francisco for years. First responders who come from a foreign background might speak a family language. Other than that, zilch. What they do is utilize The Language Line tant can provide interpretation. Which is another expense we can do without.

You misunderstand. One of two things was likely happening:

1) Your attitude and demeanor toward them were atrocious, and they chose not to communicate with you, or;

2) They were busy doing their jobs and ignored you, I mean, they are truckers, and you are you. Take it from me, a son of a former trucker.
Deep down inside you know that I am the mother you always wanted

Federal regulation is why. For safety.
How would a traffic investigation go if three different languages are being spoken and not comprehended?
The same as in court, or in the hospital.

If they can pass the test for a CDL, why have a language requirement.

After all. There are all different levels of English fluency.

What grade reading level would you set for a trucker? 4th grade, 6th grade, 8th grade, HS?
A TRUCKER. Someone who drives the interstate highways daily. At least high school. With the quality of high schools, perhaps community college. At the very least, the baseline is an English speaking trucking school.

Re: If you can't communicate effectively in the Official Language of the country you shouldn't drive.

Actually this doesn't square with ADA (Americans with disabilities act) where those that don't speak English (but speak American sign language) can get a CDL.

Would that include the mute, and hard of hearing truck drivers?
Remember ADA.

Typical Leftist disdain for The Working Man... it's a big part of what cost you the 2016 and 2020 elections.
That doesn't answer the question.
If you want to require they speak English, you have to establish at what level?
4th grade, 6th grade, 8th grade, 12th grade.

You still haven't picked one.

Anecdotal and unsupported as related in any way-shape-or-form... sorry... :itsok:

No, it doesn't... but it DOES address your manifested contempt for the Working Man.

It was YOU that raised that issue as a sidebar... therefore, you must rc[rvy countering feeback related TO that sidebar.

Whatever level of language competency that the US Dept of Transportation is likely to set nowadays as the Gold Standard.

Well, you just declared America off limits to foreign tourists.

Congratulations. We don't need their money, right?
