Trump Admin Saves Jobs, Kicks 1500 Non-English-Speaking Truckers Off the Road

Most road signs use so few words, that the illiterate can read them just fine.

The same way you had bands like the scorpions (rock you like a hurricane) didn't speak english. Or Nina (99 luft balloons)
Yet they sang in phonetic English, and topped the American music charts, and barely spoke the language.

There's a difference between a singer phonating English, and needing to be able to read "wrong way" , "land ends" and " no trucks" (etc) signs when operating an 80000 lb truck.

Not hard to manage a nations economy.
Many business leaders fear that any increase in the minimum wage will be passed on to consumers through price increases thereby slowing spending and economic growth, but that may not be the case. New research shows that the pass-through effect on prices is fleeting and much smaller than previously thought.

In a new Upjohn Institute working paper, Daniel MacDonald and Eric Nilsson, of California State University, Bernardino, advance the literature on price effects of minimum wage increases.

Historically, minimum wage increases were large, one-shot changes imposed with little advance notice for businesses. But many recent state and city-level minimum wage increases have been scheduled to be implemented over time and often are indexed to some measure of price inflation. These small, scheduled minimum wage hikes seem to have smaller effects on prices than large, one-time increases

Highway 54 is the same in Portuguese as it is in English.

So is Elm street.

Stop being so stupid.

Lol, there are a LOT more signs than just street signs. Bridge limits, height limits, understanding construction routing signs in big cities...like Dallas, fkr example, which is perpetually under construction.

There are a myriad of hazard and warning signs.

Its not new. You've ways had to have a sufficient understanding of English to get a CDL
The truck drivers have the CDL

Not hard to manage a nations economy.

The labor force participation rate, at 62.2 percent, changed little in July but has declined
by 0.5 percentage point over the year. The employment-population ratio, at 59.6 percent, also
changed little over the month but was down by 0.4 percentage point over the year. (See table
A-1.)

Of whst difference is it if very few jobs are created for awhile?

Uuhh yeah, abd you've always had to have a sufficient understanding and ability to communicate the English language to get a CDL. This isnt a new thing.

Somewhere along the way, those rules were relaxed

The new order reverses a 2016 memorandum issued during former President Barack Obama's administration, which removed the requirement to place drivers out of service for English Language Proficiency (ELP) violations and eased enforcement standards.

Its not just about speaking English. You need to be able to read, understand, AND be able to communicate in English to have a CDL.
