You can't go home again.

True or false?

True.

Even if the home hasn't changed, you did.

No home to go back to. Both my parents have died and the house has been sold to somebody else.

Of course this whole debate is premised on the assumption that you had a HOME to begin with, too.

I'm reasoanbly sure that a significant portion of the population didn't every really have what most of us think of when we think of home.

False.

You can't go home again because you have changed, as has home.

False. Our memories are tricky things; we remember home the way we wish it had been, not as it really was; we embellish what was pleasant, and leave out what was not. Home, first love, the "good old days"; none of these were ever quite as we remember them. Time and memory change them all. You can't go back to what never quite was in the first place. You CAN go home again, but NOT to the place you recall.
