The Republican Party was founded as the anti-slavery party. The Democrats were the pro-slavery party and after they lost the Civil War, they founded the KKK, Poll Taxes, Jim Crow, Separate but equal, Count the beans in a jar to vote and the lynching, as well as burning down several black townships that were prosperous during the depression of the 1930's.
One part of the problem was that Abraham Lincoln had as his Vice President, Andrew Johnson, a Democrat. The reason which was flawed, was to show unity in the nation. Bad idea. When Lincoln was assassinated, Democrat Andrew Johnson took over and allowed the south's "good ole boy" previous leaders in their states to take over again, hence the restrictions pressed on blacks. Lincoln promised freed slaves, 40 acres of land and a mule. Johnson ditched that on taking over the White House.
Johnson was eventually impeached for violating the Tenure of Office Act and stopping the Reconstruction policies after the Civil War. Blacks did get into political offices back then, running as Republicans, but the Democrats eventually squelched that.
Democrats like to brag that they implemented the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but the truth is that it was the Republicans that brought the bill up and only a few Democrats supported it, but as the Republicans had the majority, Lyndon Johnson saw an opportunity to "brag" that he, a Democrat approved it and thus make it look like a Democrat bill by his signing it. He is said to have said: "If I approve this, bill, we will get those n****rs voting for us for the next 200 years." Factual or not, that is what has been happening. Although, FDR's New Deal was also contributing to the blacks voting for Democrats.
The Republicans were and still are, a party with the belief that "you should pull yourself up by your own bootstraps," rather than get a lot of handouts.
I was stationed in Georgia for a few years and I heard a few Democrats refer to the loss of the Civil War as the "great disappointment." Clearly, they'd rather be still buying and selling people like livestock.
There will be some Democrats getting on this and say all this is lies, but if you take your time and do your research, you will see that is not so. Always just do your own research and verify.

So why are Republicans upset about Confederate statues and signage being removed? Why do they go out of their way to defend and support the Confederate States of America?

And why is David Duke a Republican and why did he always run for office as one?

And why did the Democrats twice elect a half-black man as president? A half-black man is still black and not fully white.

And why do the Democrats continue to run and elect non-white candidates for office?

I can understand if, as you say, the Democrats are KKK and manipulate minority votes, but why would they actually help put minorities in elected office?
