Those are the tropospheric temperatures from the satellites he moniters. And they do not monitor the very high latitudes where the temperature change is the greatest. So Dr. Spencer's graph is fairly accurate, and you can clearly see that the period from 1998 to present has been far warmer than any prior period for the instrumental record.

BTW: those wiki decadal values you posted? Are they all normalized to the same baseline? How do you use the 20th century avg to baseline a 1970s temp record? I suspect there's more to that story..

This is without a real nino...If that occurs it maybe warmer.
