Watched the 60 Minutes interview with the families of the Newtown tragedy this evening and found it profoundly sad that not only was this a completely unnecessary tragedy, but that it will continue to happen because liberals are blinded by ideology and incapable of learning from history.

The bottom line - no amount of gun bans, limitations on magazine capacity, or background checks will prevent - or even limit - these tragedies. This bloodshed is self-inflicted and is squarely on the hands of the liberals.

Murder is illegal and is punishable by death - if that didn't stop a psychopath like Adam Lanza, how exactly is making firearms illegal going to stop it?

Rape is illegal, but still it continues.

Narcotics are illegal, yet the black market continues to supply it with zero impediments.

Prostitution and sex-slavery is illegal, and still the black market continues to supply that as well.

Liberals can't learn from history and are incapable of understanding actual security. They simply don't grasp that you cannot regulate human behavior - that no law will change the mind of a criminal (because a criminal, by the very definition, is someone who has chosen not to obey laws).

You want evidence that all of this proposed liberal bullshit won't work? You notice that NONE of it has been implemented to protect the President? As former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino has stated on multiple occasions, not once did the Secret Service ever have a security briefing in which it was proposed to outlaw guns for the President's destination and then have the Secret Service go unarmed :lmao:

Here are some inconvenient facts that the dumbocrats are really going to hate:

So why did the killer pick the Cinemark theater? You might think that it was the one closest to the killer’s apartment. Or, that it was the one with the largest audience.

Yet, neither explanation is right

A simple web search and some telephone calls reveal how easily one can find out how Cinemark compared to other movie theaters. According to mapquest.com and movies.com, there were seven movie theaters showing "The Dark Knight Rises" on July 20th within 20 minutes of the killer’s apartment at 1690 Paris St, Aurora, Colorado. At 4 miles and an 8-minute car ride, the Cinemark’s Century Theater wasn't the closest. Another theater was only 1.2 miles (3 minutes) away.

There was also a theater just slightly further away, 10 minutes. It is the "home of Colorado's largest auditorium," according to their movie hotline greeting message. The potentially huge audience ought to have been attractive to someone trying to kill as many people as possible. Four other theaters were 18 minutes, two at 19 minutes, and 20 minutes away. But all of those theaters allowed permitted concealed handguns

So why would a mass shooter pick a place that bans guns? The answer should be obvious, though it apparently is not clear to the media – disarming law-abiding citizens leaves them as sitting ducks.

Did Colorado shooter single out Cinemark theater because it banned guns? | Fox News

And remember the 1999 Columbine attack in Colorado. Few appreciate that Dylan Klebold, one of the two Columbine killers, was following Colorado legislation that would have let citizens carry a concealed handgun. Presumably, he feared being stopped during his attack by someone with a weapon. In fact, the Columbine attack occurred the very day that final passage was scheduled.

Gun-free zones are a magnet for those who want to kill many people quickly.

Even the most ardent gun control advocate would never put “Gun-Free Zone” signs on their home. Let’s stop finally putting them elsewhere.

I didn't have the heart to watch that piece.
But the story on Jeremy Lin rocked.

There is something to be said about family values and strong work ethic. Both are most effective at keeping people out of trouble. More effective than outlawing guns that are owned by people with family values and a strong work ethic.

You're dead-on, but on this particular issue, exponentially more than that is real security. This is so simple and does not have to be expensive:

Well trained, well armed security on site.

Take teachers/administration/etc. willing to be part of the solution, choose 3 to 5 per facility, pay them an extra $5K year, and train the hell out of them.

Bulletproof doors that lock from the inside (kids can walk out any time they want from the inside in the event of fire or other emergency) - every school I have been in was made of heavy brick, so the only real vulnerable points are the doors and windows

Man-traps at each enterance (two door enterance where only one door is unlocked at a time - you walk in the first door, the second is locked until the first door behind you closes and locks) with metal detectors.

You implement these 3 low-cost, simple solutions and you'll never have another mass shooting again. You might have a shooting. You might (and I stress might) even see a child or two killed in an incident. But you will never see double-digit massacres again.

That sounds... expensive.

Family values and strong worth ethic don't cost nuttin'.

It's also a complete pipe-dream my friend.

I mean, ask yourself why everyone isn't doing that already? It's kind of like claiming we don't need the ultra expensive Secret Service - we just need to teach people not to harm the president :)

Have you ever seen the inner city ghetto crack addict families? Yeah, they aren't overly concerned with teaching their children about "family values" and "strong work ethics".

We can't rebuke the asinine left-wing utopian dream with right-wing utopian dreams. We're NEVER going to get ALL people to raise their families properly. There is evil in the world. You combat evil with practical, proven solutions. Not with pipe-dream utopian suggestions.

people have bought into the liberal bs

such as the unsafe practice of gun free zones far too long

folks with common sense are starting to wake up to this nonsense

like the 700 or so teachers that took a self defense gun course

this past weekend

No, not been to crack holes.

I did once travel the back roads of rural Appalachia. It was dueling banjo land to be sure.

Dirt fucking poor, but contented. And happy. I liked those folk. They were rich with heritage.

You're totally right. Those five year-olds should have been packing heat

Yeah....that's what's needed, presently....another 50 years o' "conservative-absolutes".

There were two armed guards at Columbine. They didn't stop the rampage.

VA Tech had a full out police force. That didn't stop Cho's rampage.

Ft. Hood is an army base. That didn't stop Hasan's rampage.

Guns don't stop rampages. Because a crazy person with murder on his mind is going to be faster than a sane person trying to react.

The way to fix it is to get the weapons out of everyone's hands.

Easy Peasy. The rest of the world has ALREADY FIGURED THIS OUT.

But Americans, we are kind of the retards of the industrialized world. "Doy, Founding Father Say we can have gun, derpa-derp!"

Don't forget Chris Kyle, possibly the most dangerous American with a gun getting gunned down at a shooting range. Previous to that I'm sure the pro-gunners would have said he was as safe as can be at a shooting range. Definitely not a gun free zone.

Hmmm... take someone with a stressful job and give them a gun. Yeah, that will work out well. You do realize that most people who become teachers quit within five years because they can't take the stress, right?

Bulletproof doors that lock from the inside (kids can walk out any time they want from the inside in the event of fire or other emergency) - every school I have been in was made of heavy brick, so the only real vulnerable points are the doors and windows

Hey, fuck, Poodle, let's go all out and brick up the Windows. Those kids don't need windows! And it's not like we'll ever let them out on the playground. Some "Patriot" like Lanza might want to stop by and excercise his "Second Amendment rights".

Man-traps at each enterance (two door enterance where only one door is unlocked at a time - you walk in the first door, the second is locked until the first door behind you closes and locks) with metal detectors.

Guy, you guys begrudge the schools money to buy books and hire enough teachers to do the job, but you want to spend all this money redesiging them so that a Lanza doesn't make you gun nutters look bad? Seriously?

You implement these 3 low-cost, simple solutions and you'll never have another mass shooting again. You might have a shooting. You might (and I stress might) even see a child or two killed in an incident. But you will never see double-digit massacres again.

Or you could just ban private gun ownership like they do in Japan, Germany, England, France and rarely have any gun murders.

how in the hell are you going to get over 300 million guns off the street ??

Liberals learn from history all the time. A couple of examples are Bushtard's Iraq War and his two sloppy unpaid-for tax cuts. The Iraq War is now seen as America's biggest foreign policy mistake and Conservatism only has itself to blame. The tax cuts were also stupid mistakes, leading the nation back into Reagan-like debt, after Clinton almost got the nation's finances back in order.

The US is getting back on track, first by undoing the Iraq War mistake, and winding down the other GOP adventures abroad, while raising tax rates on the comfort class to a still-generous Clinton era rate.

What part of "control" don't you low-born rubes get? The straw-man "ban" crap that keeps spewing out of your mouths, when cheap carbohydrates aren't going in the opposite direction, is unconvincing and very paranoid.

[]how in the hell are you going to get over 300 million guns off the street ??

1) tell everyone to turn in their guns. 90% of them will.

2) Let people know there is a big reward if they rat out their neighbors who are still keeping guns. There's always someone willing to rat you out.

3) Come down on the scofflaws hard.

Guess what. OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE DONE THIS. This isn't rocket science.
