Russia is a most difficult enemy to deal with. They have as much firepower as we do and therefore one needs to avoid an armed confrontation at all costs. I do not see how the USA can stop Russia from doing whatever they want with the Crimea and even the rest of the Ukraine. Sanctions, yes, but that is not going to make the difference.
