Carter and Clinton were both smart Southern Democrats and they made sure to support policies that appealed to African Americans. A huge reason why they were both elected governors of Southern states.

Dixiecrats, (Democrats all) lasted one election in 1948. But Democrats in the South, all of them, were racists even after they lost the civil war.

PAY ATTENTION. I said the Federal government took out racism in the Federal government, not in the States.

Before that happened, even Democrat Roosevelt had racist policies. In his Federal Government. Truman removed those.

Racism for me never was an option since my family would hit me hard. I was a Democrat at the time but not from the deep South, but from Ca and my mom was native of Oklahoma and she would bust us good if we were racists.
