Isn't that what Republicans have been doing for the last 40 years. Fighting for the right of their base to discriminate against gay people. Religious schools which exclude blacks and gays. The right for their base to inflict their view of abortion on the rest of the country. The right to pay people less money than they need to put a roof over their heads so that profits remain high.

Republicans have been giving favouritism to their white, rural, voting base for 40 years and it's left the nation broke, sick and lacking in infrastructure, and rights for the religious right and conservatives that go beyond their numbers and their votes. Republicans have lost 7 of the last 8 elections, and yet they've managed to control both the House and Senate and for 12 years, the White House, while losing the majority of the elections.

The result is the disease, death, and destruction of the American working class.
