When I was 8 or 9 ... the school lunch room was big enough so all the students could sit and eat ... come PTA meeting time, people just about had to sit in the rafters, the place would be completely packed, pretty much the whole community was involve with the school ...

When my kids were 8 or 9 ... we had 17 parents in the PTA ... I was one of 6 who showed up regularly ...

Let's see a show of hands ... who's been to a school board meeting in the past year? ... or better, who here even knows there's such a thing as a school board meeting? ... there's some pretty strong opinions here from people who have never spent the day in their child's school ... I understand our public schools are in trouble, but it seems less about the schools and more about the public ...

I'm sorry for you if you feel so helpless and useless and can't think of anything you can do to help ... spending those few hours every week with each child talking about their schoolwork seem futile ... here's the surprise: your children are listening to you, they are watching everything you do ... and when they're grown and gone, they'll live their lives the way you taught them ...

If you don't teach your children ... the schools will ... and your children will hate you all the days of their life ... choose wisely ...

And while I have not done a scientific study of the matter, I would bet a dollar to a dime that in every state that has this abomination, it was a Democrat governor or a Democrat legislature that made the change.
