“Your socialism is Marxism pure and simple. You see, the great mass of workers only wants bread and circuses. Ideas are not accessible to them and we cannot hope to win them over. We attach ourselves to the fringe, the race of lords, which did not grow through a miserabilist doctrine and knows by the virtue of its own character that it is called to rule, and rule without weakness over the masses of beings.”

Hitler dismisses even the idea of challenging the status of capitalism, telling Strasser that his socialism is actually Marxism and making the argument that powerful businessmen were powerful because they were evolutionarily superior to their employees. Thus, Hitler argues, a “workers council” taking charge of a company would only get in the way.

The main difference between Marxism and socialism is that Marxism is a specific theory, while socialism is a broad term that encompasses a range of ideologies:

Marxism -->

Hitler opposed both. Reading his 1923 message, his socialism was nationalism. The term socialism there was used to appeal to the working class. It was a type of bait-n-switch for the purpose of gaining power, while all the time pretending to be on the side of the working class. This is necessary to achieve power: perceived to be on the side of the working class. But when the truth comes out, things fall apart.

Democrats, in my experience, are fearful folks who need the bodyguard of big government because they are vulnerable, battered emotional hypochondriacs....they need to insure themselves against every societal misadventure that could occur. They call that 'empathy,' but it's actually neurosis. They have some sort of metaphorical bullet lodged near their heart, just waiting for a slight move which will end it all!
Thus, the overwhelming feeling of incipient failure, and apprehension. And, recognizing their own weakness, they lash out at those willing to depend on themselves.
