Actually. This is a very good thing. It means the actions of the Bush and Obama administrations have had some impact. It means the complaints from BLM and reform advocates are making a difference.
One of the complaints I among others often make is the Blue Wall of Silence. Where cops lie on their reports to back each other up. It is easy to understand the motivation to back up your buddies. It is wrong, but we humans can justify any wrong as part of the greater good. The ends justify the means.
Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said he has dismissed one of his deputies after accusations the deputy improperly used her gun to get a suspect to comply.

Another Deputy reported it immediately. Another Deputy decided the truth was better than the old take care of your fellow cops first standard.
How many times have we seen that one cop does something wrong and the other cops around write their reports to back up the first? He “found” the drugs. When the video comes out later, the cop who did the wrong is punished, maybe, and the rest were ignored.
If this trend continues, one of the big complains against the cops will evaporate. Then we can have a real discussion, a truthful discussion on the rest of the reforms. Perhaps they won’t be as extreme. Perhaps there won’t be a need for them at all. Because when we deal in truth instead of lies we can make a lot more progress. We can make it safer and better for the cops and the accused. We can make it better and safer for everyone. It starts with one thing though. Truth. When we deal in truth we can fix anything.
that need for truth. Honesty. It is not limited to the world of Law Enforcement. When Grumman was building the lunar lander. An engineer made a mistake in his math and it meant the landing leg failed a crucial test. The Engineer went over his work and discovered the error. He took it to his boss Tom Kelly first thing the next morning. Kelly was not happy. Who would be? Months had been wasted. Hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted. Kelly did not fire the engineer. He is quoted as saying that as long as we tell the truth we have a chance of reaching the Moon. If we lie, and cover our asses, we are not going to make it across the street. Tom Kelly was absolutely right. The opposite attitude led to the deaths of the Apollo One Astronauts.
We also have historical examples of the other argument. World War Two. Our Torpedos were not exploding. The Admiral Responsible for the development of the weapon argued for months that the Torpedo was perfect. It was the sailors and Captains screwing up. In time we found the truth. The magnetic exploder was faulty. The firing pin got jammed in the tube. Design flaws. Design flaws that took months and cost lives to discover and correct.
