1. #11 James Polk. (1795-1849) served as the 11th U.S. president from 1845 to 1849. During his tenure, America’s territory grew by more than one-third and extended across the continent for the first time. Before his presidency, Polk served in the Tennessee legislature and the U.S. Congress; in 1839 he became governor of Tennessee. A Democrat who was relatively unknown outside of political circles, Polk won the 1844 presidential election as the dark horse candidate. As president, he reduced tariffs, reformed the national banking system and settled a boundary dispute with the British that secured the Oregon Territory for the United States. Polk also led the nation into the Mexican-American War (1846-48), in which the United States acquired California and much of the present-day Southwest. Polk kept his campaign promise to be a one-term president and did not seek reelection. Soon after leaving the White House, he died at age 53.

2. #5 James Monroe: The last of the official founding fathers to be president. Last one to wear "knickers."

On New Year's Day, 1825, at the last of his annual White House receptions, President James Monroe made a pleasing impression upon a Virginia lady who shook his hand:

"He is tall and well formed. His dress plain and in the old style.... His manner was quiet and dignified. From the frank, honest expression of his eye ... I think he well deserves the encomium passed upon him by the great Jefferson, who said, 'Monroe was so honest that if you turned his soul inside out there would not be a spot on it.' "

Born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, in 1758, Monroe attended the College of William and Mary, fought with distinction in the Continental Army, and practiced law in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

As a youthful politician, he joined the anti-Federalists in the Virginia Convention which ratified the Constitution, and in 1790, an advocate of Jeffersonian policies, was elected United States Senator. As Minister to France in 1794-1796, he displayed strong sympathies for the French cause; later, with Robert R. Livingston, he helped negotiate the Louisiana Purchase.

His ambition and energy, together with the backing of President Madison, made him the Republican choice for the Presidency in 1816. With little Federalist opposition, he easily won re-election in 1820.

3. #25 William McKinley: From "Greg Tatro" -- "The country had been hashing and rehashing fights over currency (Greenbacks! Silver!) and the Tariff. William Jennings Bryan was nominated on a silver platform to run against McKinley’s gold standard platform. The early 1890’s are filled with riots, Coxey’s March on Washington, and depression. Many people have lost hope, especially the farmers in the West.
Four years after his election however, the economy that he campaigned to fix was booming. The currency question that defined politics of the past has been left behind in the hustle and bustle of this new era."

He was also the last Civil War veteran to be president.

To The left wing scumbag, the entire existence of this country is 230 years of illegitimacy. They believe the founding, and every subsequent action by this country is a practice of greed and unrighteousness on behalf of white Christians.

Yes, it was certainly represented when that bizarre looking muppet of a wide said she was proud of America for the first time in her free, privileged life.

FirstTimeProudMichelleObama-NFH.jpg

Yes, they all share the same sentiment. That is what they are taught in their ivy league schools. They believe there is a utopia out there, and they are determined (like they have been determined since the 30s) to bring down the country. The one sure fire way to do that is cause a mass economic apocalyptic collapse of the American dollar.

The administration has been using ZIRP (zero interest rate policy) to artificially inflate the market. One to pay off his billionaire friends who have funded his party, two to create a mass deck of cards. Notice how the agitators who skillfully organized protests against wall street are curiously quiet? Those same community organizers were in Ferguson for a while.

Wait until the interest rates are raised, the bubble will burst. I personally think the president is setting up republicans so that the bubble bursts under their watch. A bubble that he is creating and the moronic left wing constituency will not see.

The debt is at such a level. That same moronic base actually claims their black god actually reduced the deficit, regardless of the massive increase of the debt that had never been seen. An increase in debt, despite the cut military spending.

That is where we are at, and this is the president that has brought down the country. It will take a miracle to recover from what this administration has done. This American hating pile of socialist shit in chief.

Most underrated president? Ronald Reagan (Source: Book titled 'Presidential Leadership' ISBN 0-7432-5433-3) table 6 page 260.

Strangely, on the same page in the same book Ronald Reagan is in second place behind JFK as the most overrated president.

Go figure.

Reagan - corrupt, made the US a debtor nation and seemed bent on killing of the working class.

Washington, Lincoln, FDR and Reagan were probably the best leaders we have had.

JFK was handsome and had the best speech writers. A model for Brian Williams.

I agree with OP regarding the most underrated Presidents.

Nixon and LBJ were also totally under rated they were both masterminds in there own way.

So was Jimmy Carter he didnt freze gas prices ( yet everyone blames him)

I thought this thread was about Obama again. Or maybe about Bush Jr. Anyway, top 10 needed!
