I see it a bit differently. I believe that, once confirmed and assuming office, many of these folks see what they think is a way to compromise. They become a bit overly-accommodating toward the other side (a move to the middle). (I sniff the stench of the philosophy of “we must go along to get along.”)
Sadly, that only seems to happen on the R side. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the D folks in those positions (during D Admins) generally seem to be incapable of moving toward accommodation or compromise.
Let's make 2 lists
First list: the few remaining small government, fiscal conservative Republicans
Second List: Republicans Trump wants to Primary and banish from the Republican Party
