"35 years ago this year, Bill Buckner of the Boston Red Sox made one of the worst errors in baseball history in the World Series. What do you think is baseball's worst mistake ever?"


Not one of the worst but certainly one of the most embarrassing:


And my Pirates' Gregory Polanco looking pretty bad:

By a player, this is probably the "biggest error". You've got to blame John McNamara however for having Buckner out there in that situation though. Its late in the game, you really don't need his stick in the line up and you had players who could play the position on the bench. Dave Stapleton had played 29 games that year at first base.
