By a player, this is probably the "biggest error". You've got to blame John McNamara however for having Buckner out there in that situation though. Its late in the game, you really don't need his stick in the line up and you had players who could play the position on the bench. Dave Stapleton had played 29 games that year at first base.

I remember that. It was incredible...the blown call and the forgiveness. I don't know what the right word for it is.
