It is becoming clear that the biggest sticking point is th CBT, the question of whether to raise the level by $10 million or more, or not at all.
1. Players want it wayyyy up, so lots of players can be paid more withouth the team having to pay that tax.
The players are claiming that keeping it low is essentially a cap on salaries.
Three of the four big sports have caps.
2. Owners want it to stay at $210 million so they can reason not to give sky high contracts.
3. Look at the states above: only three teams went over $210 million.
And some teams spent only about 10% of that amount.
4. How about we have a real salary cap......but also a salary floor.
If you can't pay $50 million to an entire team, then the home venue can't support major league baseball......three teams would be gone, or fans would pony up.
It would fill the wishes of both sides.
Let's play ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!
