Jeffrey Thompson is a research economist based at the Political Economy Research Institute at UMass, Amherst and funded, in part, by the New England members of the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative network.
The State Fiscal Analysis Initiative brings together nonpartisan, independent, nonprofit organizations in each of 30 states and the District of Columbia . These organizations have diverse backgrounds and missions, but they share a commitment to rigorous policy analysis, responsible budget and tax policies, a particular focus on the needs of low- and moderate-income families.
Since launching in 1993 in 11 states, SFAI has grown steadily. The 31 states in SFAI include 76 percent of the nationÂ’s population. Additional state-level organizations are expected to join the network in the coming years.
Financial support for SFAI organizations comes principally from local and regional foundations, from individual donors, and from several national foundations including the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Open Society Institute, the Stoneman Family Foundation, the Public Welfare Foundation, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The SFAI network is coordinated by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a Washington-based research organization and strategic policy institute that works on a range of federal and state issues.
State Fiscal Analysis Initiative
Maybe, because it is a collection of people who have a vested interest in public service spending. Once again, post a crap study and claim false victory. Take a look at the history of Keyesian economics and their application to government spending. Total fail.
