This is why none of our EU "allies" are willing to protect the flow of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz

Yep.
By the 1990s, most easily accessible "shallow" reserves had already been found and exploited. The government continued to offer leases in deepwater areas because that is where the massive reservoirs remained.
That's what I just said.
"That's where the leased land is".
They can always try to get the state or a private leaser to let them drill.
Given BP's track record, only Trump would be stupid enough to to lease land to them.

As I understand it virtually all of Iran’s oil exports go through the Straight

Lets seize Kharg Island and cut off the mullah’s income
How does that reopen Hormuz? Right now there are over 2500 ships stranded & waiting to pass thru the SOH. Crews are running out of food & water & are rationing supplies because there's no way to resupply them. Soon, some tankers will run out of fuel, again, with no way to refuel them. Do you have any idea how long it will take for 2500 tankers to get thru that Straight? We're not talking Miami Vice go fasts. This is only the beginning of an epic catastrophe that we're only at the beginning of, thanks to that shitheel in the W.H.

They can always do this:

The actual number is 400 tankers

Thats a lot but dont make it worse than it actually is

I was reading about that. Begs the question as to why fuel prices have drastically increased in England for instance.

In a nutshell:

Why would oil producers sell now at a low price, when they think the price will go up?

Why sell to anyone at a discount? No need.

They will sell that higher price now or sit on it.

Your number is those tankers who are in the straight stranded. The 2500 are those waiting to enter SOH according to Hormuz Tracker.com

According to your source, those 2500 tankers are idle in the gulf region. It doesn't say that they are in the gulf or the Arabian Sea or if they are full or empty. If empty, they can be redirected to other ports.

They're idle because they're stranded with no ports to enter. At least safe ones. Once ins. co's yank coverage, all bets are off anyway.

If their destination were ports in the gulf and they can't get in -- they are idle and can be redirected. Why would insurance companies yank coverage on any ship not in the gulf? SMH. BTW, ships already in the gulf don't have insurance coverage as your source clearly states at the top of the page.

Time to open a book on when Israel and the US Zionists surrender .
Both Nutty and Motor Mouth are desperate to find an exit platform that is not humiliating .
That is , a surrender narrative that is not a surrender ---in Trumpfy -speak language .
Or, in gibberish , as we say .

No ammo .
No Missiles
No victory

This must be the most criminal and criminally negligent based conflict in living memory .
I can see Trumpfy and Nutty vying for the award of most hated and ridiculed leader in the world .

Oh , How the Mighty have fallen .
Goodbye Trumpfy
Goodbye Nutty Yahoo .

The insurance coverage was withdrawn due to "elevated risk". Owners of those vessels would have to be out of their minds to allow those vessels to sail without insurance coverage. A major spill in the best of circumstances could send a company into bankruptcy.

Those vessels aren't going anywhere for the time being & they're not all oil tankers. Ask farmers who will not be able to source fertlizers without paying exorbitant prices which they can't affford.
