This country is in deep trouble

A few of us realized the USA was screwed before it all fell apart. And were ridiculed for our efforts.

"The economy is great" , "you just want America to fail", "you are unamerican", etc.

Many still deny that we are falling more each day in regards to our stats in education, healthcare, etc in relation to the rest of the civilized world.

This country was in deep trouble and ‘far gone’ in March 2003.

yea 5% UE and deficts that run the same as what we run in 30 days today was horrific
Why do you feel Saddam gets a free pass and Boooosh gets all the blame?

Getting hung in public is not my idea of a free pass.

If Saddam does the right thing at anytime after 91
he is alive
there is no war ever

Thats the root cause of his being hung, with a rope

After reading the threads on the Iraq war and the lib myths that came with it, I had no idea we were this far gone until now
we won the war in Iraq and to try and re gain the political capital that Obama had 30 months ago there are some people on this message board that the truth means nothing

its pure desperation and it the very thing the terrorist want us to be doing

we have well over 10% real UE
we are in debt so far we are now just printing money, we stopped borrowing it
we are done in IRAQ and all you hear about it on this message board is what a failure it was

i AM AT A LOSE FOR WORDS
HOW DID WE GET HERE PEOPLE?

We won the war? What did we win, exactly?

This country is in trouble because we have two parties who are willing to let the country crash and burn because they are wearing ideological straightjackets.

Hence, the founders understanding and recognition that the party system would be the death of the country.....and they realized that 230 plus years ago.

who said Saddam had anything to do with 9-11

Bush did, and you at least implied it or you would not have brought the subject up.

Look, you aren't fooling anyone. It's perfectly obvious that your real motivations here are a lust for pain, blood, destruction, death, and domination; a vicious desire to grind other people under our bootheels and force them to do what we want; there's nothing driving you in this direction but sadism and power-lust, and any more honorable motivations you may advance are a whitewash. If that weren't so, you would advocate other means than war to advance those causes, and see war as a last resort only.

You are what every warmonger is: a would-be tyrant and bully, vicariously enjoying the pain of others inflicted by our nation. That most disagree with you is a very healthy and hopeful sign.

Our leadership (both sides) stinks and we have allowed it to continue for too long. We have sacrificed what's best for the long run for short term benefits that ultimately our children wil pay for. Used to be we sacrificed so our children could have better lives; now we sacrifice their future so we can live better lives now.

Be nice if we could wake up and smell the coffee and do something about turning things around. I don't see it happening though, I think we'll go through a riproaring depression that will rival or exceed the last one. Maybe then we'll re-orient our values and principles.

I see everyone still insists on judging the wars with their narrow view of what, where, why and when. Good to know we got so many CIA operatives willing to share what they knew.

Saddam violated 19 conditions of the cease fire agreement repeatedly. We were justified on that basis alone. History will be the final arbiter so give it a rest.

I agree. We are in deep trouble. But it's not because of the politicians. The politicians are just symptoms of the real problem.

We the people are the problem. We are corrupt, so our politicians are corrupt. We are dishonest, covetous, selfish, etc so our politicians are the same. Our representatives actually do represent us as a people.

Does that mean everyone is? No. But is there anyone here who says he is perfect in any of those areas? If not then I suggest you try harder. Build virtue in your life.

This nation can and will only be saved when we innoculate ourselves against the corruption, dishonesty, and vice that is pervading our society. That will involve humbling ourselves, being honest with everyone, including ourselves. Living a virtuous life. etc.

And then after we do that we need to persuade others, starting w ith our family to do that.

Dead on. I will rep you for this later. The problem is the people. If we got our shit together and stopped demanding something for nothing, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Its gonna be worse. We are going to lose the reserve currency. Overnight gas prices will match EU, the federal reserve (or the government if they have been fired already) will be forced to increase interest rates to 15+% to avoid hyperinflation. Welcome to instant austerity. We will be lucky if the government can generate enough income to make debt payments.

People are so retarded, living in some fantasy. We squabble and entitlements and tax cuts for rich, and homesexuals. The reality is real soon none of that stuff is even going to matter anymore.

This is payment for neglecting education for decades, for cultivating a culture of spoiled rotton nincomputs who would rather play WOW then address anything that impacts their lives. This is payment for having blind faith in government. Things are only going to keep getting worse untill we return to strong morals and better judgment.

S&P’s list of AAA Rated Countries
Aug 06 2011

AAA countries according to Standard & Poor’s:
**********************************
Austrailia
Austria
Canada
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Guernsey
Hong Kong
Isle of Man
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Norway
Singapore
Sweden
Switzerland
United Kingdom

Most AAA nations on Standard and Poor's List

- have a public healthcare system

- have average life expectancies that exceed their American counterparts

- pay higher taxes than the average American (pay down debts)

- have a lower debt/GDP ratio than the US

- are considered "socialist" by American standards

The economic approach adopted by those nations that have been the most successful in maintaining their S&P AAA rating tends to totally contradict the "conventional wisdom" advocated by the Republicans and the Tea Party!

Is This How America Ends?

By Chris Hunter

You won’t read about it in the mainstream press, but there has never been a better time to leave the United States in the country’s 233-year history.

You can hardly mention this without offending people these days. If you do, you risk being called “unpatriotic.”

This, of course, is nonsense. The idea of America is that people should have the right to shape their own lives...seek out opportunities...and go wherever they want.

I still believe in that America. That’s why I always encourage people to keep seeking out new places where you can live freer or better. I suspect it’s why you’re reading these Postcards—because you, too, are searching for that original America all over the world.

As International Living's financial editor, it’s my job to spot ways you can protect and grow your savings so that they can be passed onto the next generation. Two threats concern me the most: inflation and higher taxes.

America now spends far more than it earns in tax revenue. To close this gap, Washington does two things: it borrows dollars and it prints them.

The scale of this effort is staggering.

The amount of U.S. government debt forced into the hands of the public has risen by $3.62 trillion in just over two years. That’s an increase of 61%.

Meanwhile, over the last four years, Ben Bernanke has managed to create out of thin air 60% of the entire monetary base of the country. (This is a term economists use to describe the amount of money available to the economy.)

This is bad news for the dollar. That’s because the more dollars the Federal Reserve creates, the less each dollar is worth. The dollar has already lost 95% of its buying power since the Fed was created in 1913. Given the unprecedented increase in dollar creation over the last four years I expect each one of today’s dollars to hold onto just half their current buying power by 2020.

Twined with this inflation threat is 100% certainty of higher taxes in the future. If you earn $62,068 or more you already pay four out of every five dollars collected by the IRS. At the other end of the scale, today roughly 50% of adult Americans don't pay any taxes...whatsoever. This shrinking tax base will force Washington to collect more of the tax take from those already shouldering most of the tax burden. Anything else would be political suicide.

The dramatic increase in federal spending, the record number of fresh dollars entering the system, and the shrinking tax base all mean that time is running out for savers and earners who still have their homes, their salaries, their savings, and their investments denominated in U.S. dollars.

My advice is simple: get out while you still can. Seek to diversify your savings into other currencies and overseas assets. Seek advice—like the investment ideas we publish in International Living magazine. And most important of all, don’t stop searching for new lands of opportunity and new Americas beyond your borders.

Tax cuts in a time of war. A war based on lies. Lies such as you continue to bandy about.
