Back in 1980, when they were first talking about making MLK's birthday a holiday, I said that we quickly forget why we are having a holiday at all. I even joked that at some point, we'd have a Martin Luther King Day White Sale.

Well, lo and behold, this year, one of our Car Dealerships actually tauted a MLK Day sale.

We don't remember Veterans on Veteran's day, or Union Workers on Labor Day, or our War Dead on Memorial Day. It's just a day off for some of us.

Patriot Day already had the bad luck of being too close to the floating Labor Day Holiday.

A couple of years ago, some idiot actually tried to do a 9/11 Day Sale.. there'll be a day when that isn't tasteless.
