I need to go buy candy!

I grew up here, long long ago, when kids couldn't wait to finish supper and get into their costumes and get out there! Only the smallest kids needed supervision by older siblings. We'd INVADE the whole neighborhood!

Then we came to the time when parents became fearful of letting their young ones out, unsupervised. My last couple of decades in Washington State, it was unusual to see more than a couple of trick-or-treaters in the whole night.

Now, I'm back home, and my sweet, safe little town comes alive with kids! I have to buy A LOT of candy to make sure I don't run out. Seeing the imaginative costumes and enjoying the sweet politeness of the local kids makes Hallowe'en the fun it was when I was a kid. I so look forward to it. Parents drive the kids if the evening is too chilly, but mostly a whole family will go house-to-house together, toting the youngest in a wagon.

I LOVE it, and I love my little town!
