‘There are a lot of bitter people here, I’m one of them’: rust belt voters on why they backed Trump again despite his broken promises

We will need more domestic production of everything as rising energy prices reduce global trade. The rust belt will become less rusty, while the west coast becomes the new rust belt with less trade and not much else there. Later it may be mostly abandoned to fire and drought.

Trump did not expect to win in 2016. He did not have a team ready to hit the ground running. He put too much trust in party hacks who worked against him until they were fired. He also underestimated the difficulty and hazards of what he was attempting. He learned from his mistakes and now has a team ready to achieve his goals, with more awareness of how much work that will be.

Excellent summation. :113:

Don't you worry; we lived through a Reagan before and survived.

The legacy of Reagan is a growing national debt that Republicans are using to cut or eliminate popular domestic spending programs. From the end of the Second World War to the last year of President Carter's presidency the national debt was under contol.

Well educated people are better able to see through Trump's unachievable promises. They are more likely to be offended by Trump's low class personality and his fourth grade vocabulary.
LMAO! 🤣 My wife is an RN and nearly ALL the doctors and nurses she works with are Trump supporters. She said only one person was a diehard liberal - a millennial X-Ray Tech who no longer even works there. My 82yr old stepfather has a Ph.D from Harvard --> Trump supporter since Day 1. Most of the people I've met who are Trump supporters are anything BUT uneducated. Most of the Biden/Democrat supporters I've met are low class UNEDUCATED stiffs with tattoos, piercings and purple hair, who are seldom without their vapes and energy drinks, and are seriously lazy and whiny. OR....they are doddering old fools who have not grown with the times and think the DNC is still what it was in the 60's. Or minorites who actually think the Dems care about them. What's funny is that those idiot lefties actually think that we who voted for Trump did so because we think he "cares" about us. Newsflash: I will vote for anyone who effectively opposes the New World Order globalist mafia and gets their panties in a knot like NO ONE else. We KNOW it's because Trump threatens to undo the globalist empire they built ever since Bush Sr made his creepy introductory NWO speech on 9/11/1990. They are SO afraid of Trump, they created the most massive propaganda campaign since the Nazis convinced a quorum of Germans that Jews were the cause of all their problems. Now that's exactly what liberal media does to Trump and Trump supporters. They hate-hate-hate....but then insist the other side is doing the hating. The only thing funnier was my best friend's little sister who used to cover her eyes and say "no one can see me". Obviously Dems are of the same mentality. Believe me. We see you.

Nice job of hating.

Why education level has become the best predictor for how someone will vote

The education gap grows

“The biggest single, best predictor of how someone’s going to vote in American politics now is education level. That is now the new fault line in American politics,” Sosnik told David Chalian on the “CNN Political Briefing” podcast.

Trump’s rise over the past three election cycles, Sosnik argued, “accelerated and completed this political realignment based on education that had been forming since the early ’70s, at the beginning of the decline in the middle class.”

As the US transitions to a 21st century economy, there’s a rift between the people who attain education – “that’s become the basic Democratic Party,” he said, comparing them with people who feel left behind, “that group of voters is now the modern Republican Party base.”

Inequality grows

There’s data to back this up, as Sosnik has previously written. In an August report on growing income inequality in the US, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis documented that for every dollar of wealth in a household headed by a college graduate, a household headed by a high school graduate has 22 cents. The figure rises to 30 cents for households headed by someone with some college, but no degree.

1. First of all you make a point that they "feel" left behind, then you support that with data that shows that their "feeling" is correct, that they have been lefty behind.

2. Now, they are voting for a change in the policies that have left them behind.

So, yeah, that makes complete sense.

Why are you acting like it doesn't?

It makes sense for people who do not have any sense.

The policy was bad for them. THey support the guy that wants to change it to be better for them.

You refuse to see it, becuase you are hostile to them and don't want them to have their interests served.

Tariffs will raise prices.

Musk's efforts to cut nearly one third of the federal budget will not cause temporary pain, as he claims, they will cause permanent pain to most Trump supporters.
