Understanding this to be true, it is surprising that after nearly 63 years, the idiot trumpās attorney general, Jeff Sessions, would reopen the case of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black teenager lynched in 1955.
The murder occurred in Money, Mississippi, after Till reportedly whistled at Carolyn Donham, a white woman while both were in a store. Despite the fact that two white men were charged, and later acquitted, no one was ever convicted in his death. Years later, both men confessed to the crime in a paid newspaper interview.
In January 2017, the book āThe Blood of Emmett Tillā by Timothy B. Tyson was published. In his book, Tyson quotes a 2008 interview in which Donham [the white woman] says that she lied when she testified that the black teen grabbed her, whistled and made sexual advances in a Mississippi store six decades ago. Apparently, after five decades, Donham felt bad that her false testimony about being accosted and lewd sexual advances toward her cost Till his life. According to Tysonās book, she reportedly said, āNothing that boy did could ever justify what happened to him.ā Itās too bad, she didnāt have a conscience back in 1955 when Tillās brutal murder could have been prevented.
The bookās author told reporters that he was contacted by the FBI weeks after his book was published in January 2017, and he furnished them interview recordings and other research materials. Tyson has little hope that his research alone could lead to new charges, but with evidence already in investigatorsā possession, could provide the leads necessary to do so.
Naturally, it was not Sessionsā plan to reopen the case, but with the new information from Tysonās book, Tillās family gained the power to pressure Sessions onto making a decision on an issue he would have much preferred to ignore.
As the world watches the idiot trumpās ādeplorablesā push this nationās sense of honor lower and lower, to see the Till family receive some measure of justice so many years after young Emmetās death would be gratifying to rational and honorable Americans.
