Pardoned Jan. 6 Rioter Who Threatened Police Joins Justice Dept.

A former F.B.I. agent who was charged with encouraging the mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to kill police officers has been named as an adviser to the Justice Department task force that President Trump established to seek retribution against his political enemies.

The former agent, Jared L. Wise, is serving as a counselor to Ed Martin, the director of the so-called Weaponization Working Group, according to people familiar with the group’s activities.

Mr. Martin, a longtime supporter of Jan. 6 defendants, was put in charge of the weaponization group in May after Mr. Trump withdrew his name for a Senate-confirmed position as the U.S. attorney in Washington. His nomination faltered in part because of the work he had done as an advocate and defense lawyer for people charged in connection with the Capitol attack.

Even in a Justice Department that has often been pressed into serving Mr. Trump’s political agenda, the appointment of Mr. Wise to the weaponization task force was a remarkable development. His selection meant that a man who had urged violence against police officers was now responsible for the department’s official effort to exact revenge against those who had tried to hold the rioters accountable.

It's difficult if not impossible to express in words just how thoroughly co-opted the DoJ has become.

Mass dismissals of Education Department civil rights complaints prompt concern from former officials

The Education Department dismissed civil rights complaints at such a rapid clip this year that former officials and advocates are concerned about a core agency function amid Trump administration plans to make deep staffing cuts.

In court documents filed last week, the department disclosed that its Office for Civil Rights dismissed 3,424 complaints between March 11 and June 27 “consistent with OCR’s Case Processing Manual.” The documents state that 96 complaints were “resolved” because of insufficient evidence during an investigation — and another 290 complaints with voluntary agreements, settlements or technical assistance.

In trumpworld, civil rights are a quaint relic of the past.

IRS says churches can endorse political candidates to congregations

Churches and other houses of worship registered as tax-exempt nonprofits can endorse political candidates to their congregations, the IRS said Monday, issuing a new interpretation of the tax code.

The decision, first reported by The New York Times, was communicated in a court filing intended to settle a lawsuit filed by two Texas churches and a group of Christian broadcasters.

501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations have long been prohibited from endorsing candidates or otherwise intervening in campaigns for political offices as a condition of their tax-exempt status.

As norm shattering regimes go this norm it's shattered is a big one.

Trump Administration Proposes More Drastic Election Security Cuts

Lawmakers are blasting the Trump administration budget proposal that cuts nearly $500 million dollars from the nation’s top cybersecurity agency that’s responsible for protecting elections from hacking and other cyber threats.

Last week, the White House sent a discretionary budget proposal to Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the chair of the appropriations committee, outlining the fiscal year 2026 budget. The discretionary budget — also known as the “skinny budget,” as it reflects the most cost-cutting, but not final, proposal for budget cuts — calls for shaving off nearly a third of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) budget, without much explanation.

“The Budget refocuses CISA on its core mission — Federal network defense and enhancing the security and resilience of critical infrastructure — while eliminating weaponization and waste,” the White House’s proposal reads in a brief paragraph justifying a $491 million cut to CISA’s budget.

“The Budget eliminates programs focused on so-called misinformation and propaganda as well as external engagement offices such as international affairs. These programs and offices were used as a hub in the Censorship Industrial Complex to violate the First Amendment, target Americans for protected speech, and target the President.”

In a joint statement, Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, and Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.), ranking member of the Committee on House Administration, blasted the Trump administration over the proposed cuts.

“The President’s budget plan fails to provide the critical funding we need for election infrastructure, security, and administration,” the statement reads.

“Every state will feel the cuts, but smaller, rural, and lower-resourced elections offices would be disproportionately hurt. To make matters worse, these cuts are in addition to the Administration’s previous actions to terminate staff and programs to counter election misinformation and disinformation and defend against foreign interference in our elections.”

If you have evidence proving the regime did not propose cutting CISA's budget by almost $500M then please present it. Otherwise, your post will be regarded as the worthless garbage they typically are.

News reports indicate that the Trump administration has proposed a budget cut of nearly $500 million for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) for the 2026 fiscal year. CISA is the primary federal agency responsible for coordinating cybersecurity protections with state and local governments, including for elections.

This proposed cut would represent a nearly 17% reduction to CISA's $3 billion budget and would lead to significant downsizing of the agency's workforce and scope of operations. The proposed budget cuts are targeted at CISA programs related to countering disinformation, stakeholder engagement, and risk management. The administration has stated that the cuts are intended to refocus CISA on defending federal networks and critical infrastructure while eliminating what it describes as "weaponized rot," accusing the agency of working with tech companies to "target free speech".

The House ended up reducing the budget cut.

Judge rules Los Angeles police can't use nonlethal weapons against journalists

A federal judge ruled Los Angeles police cannot force journalists out of protest areas or use nonlethal weapons against them after reporters alleged officers targeted them during anti-ICE demonstrations last month.

U.S. District Judge Hernán D. Vera granted the Los Angeles Press Club’s request for a 14-day restraining order against the city’s police department after the group said it documented dozens of incidents in which officers forced reporters away from public spaces where protests were taking place, hit them with rubber bullets and nonlethal weapons and exposed them to tear gas.

Is it surprising that journalists had to sue in order to prevent the police from not allowing them access to areas where protests are happening? Not in the error (sorry, era) of trumpery.

Because MAGA is going to need all the help from Putin in the mid-terms they can get.

The Russian propaganda machine has been incredibly effective at getting MAGAs to sing Putin's talking points.

I've seen that just today!

A review of MPD BWC footage revealed WISE engaging with police officers. At approximately 4:21 PM EST, on the Upper West Terrace, WISE tells MPD officers, “You guys are disgusting. I’m former—I’m former law enforcement. You’re disgusting. You are the Nazi. You are the Gestapo. You can’t see it. . . . Shame on you! Shame on you! Shame on you!” When violence against law enforcement began in front of WISE, including officers being knocked to the ground directly in front of him, WISE turned in the direction of the violence and shouted, “Yeah,**** them! Yeah, kill ‘em!” A few seconds later, as assaults continued, he shouted in the direction of the rioters attacking the police line, “Kill ‘em! Kill ‘em! Kill ‘em!”

Blue Lives Matter, my ******* ass.

I'm going to shove this in the face of any asshole who whines about the Left attacking the police from this day forward.

Trump didn't just pardon this FUCKBAG, he actually HIRED this ******* piece of shit.

He's already demonstrated that he increases election security. When he was first elected in 2016, all the media and shrieking democrats could talk about was how Russia got him elected by making some FaceBook posts, even spending years and millions of dollars trying to prove shenanigans. 4 years later, no one said anything at all about Russian interference. Obviously, TRUMP! shut them down so thoroughly they had no impact.

It wouldn't be because the "right guy" won and no one wanted to rock the boat by looking too closely at foreign interference, would it?

So, nothing can ever be cut, eh? But, I am skeptical, it’s probably more like they didn’t raise the current outlay…

It's a shame you are so ignorant about the contents of the Mueller Report and his detailed explanation of the "sweeping and systematic" fashion in which Putin tried to aid trump's election.

15th post
Last year, a little-known office in the U.S. Department of Labor helped Black workers at a Texas medical center recover $900,000 in back wages, and Black workers at a Caterpillar manufacturing plant in Illinois recover $800,000, each time over allegations that those applicants lost out on jobs because of their race. Called the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, this division investigates and fights employment discrimination for one-fifth of the U.S. labor force. It was created in 1965 when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed an executive order strengthening the provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that banned racial discrimination by employers. The O.F.C.C.P. specifically enforced the law among businesses and institutions that contracted with the government or received federal funds. The landmark law also banned segregation and discrimination in all public places, including schools, libraries, restaurants and buses.

For more than 60 years, the executive order helped many thousands of workers who had endured discrimination. Yet despite the law, research shows that Black Americans continue to face pervasive employment discrimination at a rate that has not declined since the late 1980s.

On his second day in office, President Donald Trump labeled O.F.C.C.P.’s efforts to enforce the 1964 Civil Rights Act illegal and discriminatory — presumably against white people. He signed his own executive order revoking Johnson’s on behalf of, as he put it, “hardworking Americans who deserve a shot at the American dream.”

So many things he does can't hide his racism. The Following loves him for it.

And only 4 years later, not a peep was heard about Russian interference. It couldn't be because the "right" guy won and no one wanted to dig too deep into foreign interference, could it? More likely TRUMP! shut them down.
