The Value Of Understanding History

That's more an addendum than an exception.

We are witnessing what you suggest, now, with the Dinosaur Democrats not understanding that they are about to be extinct.
Quibble semantics if you want, but I'll claim they are different.

Your example(s) above about the CSA, the "Rebel" flag, and running debate on if the War Between the States (it wasn't very 'civil') was over State's Rights or issue of slavery shows how memory of the past will fork onto different paths.

While I wish the "Dinosaur Democrats" would go extinct, my understanding of history is that political party stands for a side/polarity common in humans which won't go away unless we are fundamentally and biologically changed (like into the Borg ?). They are basically Stateists/"socialist'(communist)/authoritarians. They might change their name/label, but their kind and substance remains the same.

Most of those DemocRATs will fall into the bottom and left sections of this Norton Chart, a few towards center of sorts;

Let's see if I can prove my point.
Which of these will the Democrat Party run on in the next presidential election?

Race and gender preferences

Language police

No punishment for criminals

Open borders

Attacks on the Supreme Court

Transgender sports competitions

Antisemitism

Wealth tax

Cancel culture

Welfare State

Government run healthcare mandates

Sanctuary Cities

Two-Tiered Justice system

Looking forward to the baby-shower for the new-born Democrat Party.

Wrong. Those good ole boys as you call them have passed away.
Correct. If there is one thing a racist HATES, its marriage between the races. Today, the American population approves of interracial marriage at a 94% clip.

There aren't enough die hard racists in the US to fill a mid sized city.

Definitely still like your writing ability, though I figure, referring to Trump as "felon" has something to do with the 34 felony count convictions by jury and judge in the New York criminal trial.
Your reply is a poster child for the results of not knowing history, including very recent history. Those "34 felony count convictions" were utterly bogus and nakedly political. They were based on a very minor campaign finance violation that is only a misdemeanor under federal law and under most state laws. Hillary committed the identical campaign finance violation, i.e., falsely identifying payments for non-campaign-related expenses as campaign-related expenses, but was never prosecuted and was merely made to pay a modest fine to the FEC.

Tell it to the New York state assembly. I am only responsible to act in accordance with local TN criminal law, unless traveling. If you don't want to be subject to New York criminal law, don't go there. I don't. But, if you were to open business or do business there, it might be in your best interests to comply with their laws. I doubt you would enjoy their prison system, not having the resources or political involvement of Trump to keep you out of the gray bar hotel.
