The US's dependence on oil is counterintuitive.

China is eating our lunch right now on renewables, power storage and electric cars. Their tech is AFFORDABLE. They're miles ahead of us. Now, out of desperation, our car makers are trying to make deals with theirs. Canada just signed that big car deal with China.

But the MAGA ideology says dirty energy over clean energy, so that's that. The Neanderthals win, as we fall further behind.

This is definitely not the right country for you.

Every country that draws from the bathtub suffers from price shocks, but the United States suffers more than its peers. The U.S. economy has a high oil intensity; it consumes a lot of oil to produce each dollar of its gross domestic product. America’s economy is more than 40 percent more oil-intensive than China’s, even though China is a net oil importer and sources much of its oil from Persian Gulf countries, including Iran. The European Union’s economy is half as oil-intensive as America’s. Even Russia, a petrostate, is about 20 percent less reliant on oil per unit of economic output than the United States is.

China is still a developing country in many ways. Developing countries tend to consume more oil than fully industrialized ones. But China also recognized its strategic vulnerability to oil shocks years ago and has been methodically decreasing it — not with warships but with electric vehicles and high-speed electric rail. Chinese gasoline consumption appears to have peaked in 2023, far earlier than analysts expected. According to an analysis by BloombergNEF, some two-thirds of electric vehicles sold worldwide are purchased in China, and within the next year, China’s E.V. sales are projected to exceed the entire U.S. car market.

The solution to this problem isn't more oil production. It's less oil consumption. Less oil consumption being the opposite of trump's goal. He of the "drill, baby, drill" camp.

Is it surprising he has positioned the US in exactly the wrong way? No. Because when it comes to strategery (thanks George) Don's tends to be impulsive, self-indulgent, ignorant, and non fact based. But he does know his bread has been buttered by legacy oil company donations. Remember his offer during the campaign?

Trump pressed oil executives to give $1 billion for his campaign, people in industry say

Former President Donald Trump asked oil industry executives last month to donate $1 billion to aid his campaign to retake the White House, three people familiar with the conversation told POLITICO — a request that campaign finance experts said appeared troubling but is probably legal.

The request, first reported Thursday by The Washington Post, occurred during a meeting of industry executives at the former president’s home in Palm Beach, Florida.

The oil industry has a long list of policy actions it would want Trump to take, including dismantling parts of President Joe Biden’s green agenda and rolling back pollution regulations that threaten to crimp their profits. As POLITICO reported Wednesday, oil executives are also preparing some highly specific requests for Trump, including executive orders they hope he would sign if reelected.

Until you can charge an EV as fast as you can fill a tank of gas, they won't compete equally with ICE vehicles.
EV car sales are dropping no one who owns one buys another and they devalue to nothing. They dont save the climate and cause even more pollution. They start fires that cant be put out

They have value in certain unique situations. People who have the ability to charge at home overnight and have short commutes.

But cold weather and any need to drive distances, never mind not having the ability to charge at home makes them less optimal.

The solution is to incentivize the Energy companies to develop alternative energy sources while still being less dependent on foreign sources. Punishing / Restricting domestic energy companies with more regulations and taxes accomplishes nothing but hurt the economy.

Pay more get less is bad idea for anything

They do have less maintenance and less moving parts than an ICE vehicle. Less fluids to change and monitor.

They aren't useless, they just aren't as good as ICE vehicles for most situations.

So how are any of following bad things for the US?

1. Potential for free elections in Venezuela.
2. Removal of the Mullahs in Iran
3. Downfall of the Communists in Cuba
They all sound great. Why didn't anyone else try this before? We shall see. Or, we are seeing why now. Same reason Bush 2 should have never went into Baghdad. His father even warned him. Rumsfeld under Bush 1 knew better. Why did Rumsfeld under Bush 2 not know? Because Chaney's company Haloburton was going to clean up on perpetual war. This is just another grift. Israel's in on it. I hear my MAGA friends. They are PISSED. Perhaps you think they'll get back in line for the midterms. If we have midterms. Or if they aren't rigged. This is scary times we are living in. I wonder how bad things would have to get before you guys would admit this is a shit show. It took you over a decade to realize Bush lied you into Iraq. You voted for Trump who was saying that on the campaign trail.

That’s the truth. The BMW i4 is like $70,000 new, but you can pick up a 2 year old used one with less than 30k miles for about $29,000…

😬

Politically. Boy the Jews, I mean Conservatives have you duped. Fox News! And medias like it. Rush Limpballs. It's so easily to lie to you. 2000 wasn't stolen, 2020 was, Trump's not corrupt and didn't break any laws. Now is a good time to go to war with the world

You and Trump remind me of the N word.

What is the source for those chicken scratchings?

OMG I can't believe we have a former fox news host, reality tv con man, mma fighter, heroine addict and couch f'er running our country.

Aramco CEO Warns Of 'Catastrophic Consequences' If Iran War Continues

The CEO of Aramco, the world's top oil exporter, on Tuesday warned there will be "catastrophic consequences" if the Iran war drags on, describing the current disruption as "the biggest crisis the region's oil and gas industry has faced" by far.

The effective shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, where normally about 20% of the world's oil supply passes through daily, poses a significant challenge.

"There would be catastrophic consequences for the world's oil markets and the longer the disruption goes on ... the more drastic the consequences for the global economy,"

Venezuela was isolated and under embargo, they were getting more and more repressive, and Russian sanctions hurt them.

Iran has lost most of their proxies due to October 7th, also sanctions against them and the other BRICS nations weakened them, and their own economic hardships have made their people turn against them.

Cuba's situation is created by the Above. with Russia busy with Ukraine, maduro out in Venezuela, and Iran decimated by the after effects of October 7th They are in a losing situation to continue with their dictatorship.

Countries with emerging economies in need of more power will ask why they shouldn't use the cheapest, dirtiest forms of power generation available and comply with the Paris standards when the US isn't.................................thanks to Dotard.
