Archeological sites in Israel are assigned one of three levels.
A. Most definitely it (Sea of Galilee)
B. Likely it. (this tomb)
C. Maybe, but probably not it. (site of Last Supper)

The Bible describes the crucifixion taking place at Golgotha (skull). And per Jewish custom the dead must be laid to rest before the Sabbath, which was at sunset that night. Thus the tomb described is close by Golgotha.

But the location of Golgotha was lost over the centuries and no one knew the exact location. Per the Bible it was outside of the walls of Jerusalem and near a major road.

Then in the early 20th century a likely candidate was located. A British archeologist was enjoying the sun on top of the wall of Jerusalem and saw this. It is located near the Gate to Damascus and near the road to Damascus.
