At the beginning of 2009, the GOP/Tea Party decided they would make revising history a priority, as well as renaming everybody within the American political spectrum. Its no revelation that the GOP complicated its party identity because of the Bush administrations abject failure to end on a positive note. The GOP got busy encouraging Republican voters to call themselves Conservatives, Conservative leaning Independents, Tea Partiers, or Libertarian/Conservatives...anything but Republicans for the time being. GOP strategists and pundits also revised the Democratic identity as Progressives and Liberals, then went on to portray them as Nazis, Communists, Socialists, godless, tyrants, elitists, parasites, and anti-American. The GOP even encourages the incorrect use of the epithet Democrat Party whenever possible, instead of calling the DNC by its correct name
the Democratic Party
Between 2009-2010, Republicans absorbed their new identities as Tea Partiers. By November 2010, the GOP/Tea Party efforts to blame everything on Obama reached critical mass, and though Republicans were still not necessarily proud of George Bush, Republican Tea Partiers fancied themselves as revolutionary thinkers, out to create the faith based Jeffersonian utopia that liberals and progressives kept from happening
instead of the losers from 2008, which is all that Tea Partiers are. Thats great political strategy, but the shocking part is the acceptance by Republican Tea Partiers of the illusion that Bush era Republicans in Washington now
are finally serious about cutting spending this time.
