You fell into the trap. Ever hear of Jackie Robinson? They named a freaking road in Washington D.C. after Malcolm X and there about a hundred streets and parks and a national holiday dedicated to MLK. On the other side of the coin, Americans today are taught to hate other Americans associated with the South in the Civil War because of slavery but they are ignorant of the fact that the Confederacy only existed for about 4 years but the flag that flew off the stern of slave ships for two hundred years was the Union Jack or the French and Spanish flags. You wouldn't risk assault if you flew the English flag. Generally the democrat party tends to focus on the past because the only way democrats get votes is when people are angry or filled with hatred even when the hatred is misdirected.
