This pertains to young people in their 20-30s. Labor participation among this group is at an all-time low. We could speculate on why this is the case (e.g., being raised with an entitlement mentality, etc…).

Also, you have to consider the massive inflation that occurred during the Biden COVID giveaways. This devalued the dollar significantly. People could not pay all their bills and resorted to credit cards and loans. Today, inflation is under control. However, the debt created due to Biden’s inflation disaster has not gone away. These ongoing debt payments take money out of the household budget, making it more difficult to pay for a house and car.

There are 2 ways to remedy this: increase your income and pay off your debt before you complain about affordability.

My daughter has diagnosed depression, a condition she inherited from her mother and grandmother. Her grandmother was bipolar, as she was institutionalized and couldn't function in normal life. Her mother was diagnosed with depression, although I could see elements of "highs."
Anyway, she couldn't qualify for the Coast Guard or other military service. She struggled with college classes, and we didn't make a lot of money to be able to fund her for much. So, she's been working retail for many years.
Even though working full time, she struggles to make ends meet and she may be losing her medical insurance due to cost increases.
If it wasn't for me helping her out, she would be out in the streets without a roof over her head. So, she has a job, but not everyone can get a high paying job and as costs almost always rise, rather than go down, I believe that the nation should step in to help out those less fortunate "natural born US citizens."

If she's that bad off looks like she could qualify for Medicaid/SNAP.

There are handicap programs depending on where you live. I myself, have a handicapped son and we get a little help from the local program. In CA we have IHSS which will pay you for caring for a handicapped person. I really understand your predicament. Sadly the folks that really need social services get very little.

At one time I would have laughed at that......Not so much anymore. 😐
That is reality in todays america. Getting married young is a recipe for disaster. No money saved, no further training in a field or trade, is not the way anymore. Those days are gone. Its simple math. Get trained, work hard, save, get your footings solid. Then maybe think about marrisge and a family. Hope doesnt pay the bills.

I would like to see the days of yore but we all know that isnt happening.

As Dave Ramsey says, these same folks complaining about affordability have Amazon delivering every day.

Perhaps we can get the ankers who own our fiat currency to reduce the interest payouts on mortgages y percentages on homes depending on when they were purchased if they are decreasing in price.

You must be a man. A woman's eggs start to decline noticeably in quality and quantity if they are aged 32-35.

Who bothers to get married?

Funny how many house emptied out after Trump enforced the law.

Agreed but in todays america one must consider financials first. Getting married young with kids and no money to raise them is a mistake. Not sure if you can comprehend reality.

So you agree to risk complications for the woman, possible birth defects for the child, etc. in lieu of making money. You couldn't possibly figure out how to support your family (as a young man)? Young men are such cucks today.

Fake reality. It is entirely possible for young folks to live on one income. 50% of them are doing it. Not having to pay for childcare (a huge expense) helps.
