Yes, a quiet peaceful Revolution is well underway. More & more States are now reasserting their rights. It really is great to see. Thank you Mr. President for waking this Sleeping Giant.
Wyoming House Approves Bills Exempting State From Federal Gun Control Measures
The Reagan War on Drugs and the Bush War on Terrorism created more federal intrusion in the destiny of the States than the fabricated hysteria over the 2nd Amendment. I say fabricated because the votes don't exist in Congress to make real changes.
The War on Drugs give Federal bureaucrats massive concentrated power over all state law enforcement. This is why the Bush Fed sent agents into California to overturn the will of the people when it came to drug laws.
Also, research the powers of Homeland Security - not only in terms of their ability to intrude on the states, but their ability to watch and collect data on U.S. Citizens. It makes the old Soviet Union look tame.
Our problem is that the rightwing voter is trapped in a media bubble where they are fed scare stories about nonsense. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the GOP is passing all this legislation to strengthen Washington's control over the states.
If you want to understand the expansion and concentration of power in Washington, study the Reagan War on Drugs and the Bush War on Terrorism. You need to leave the rightwing media bubble.
At the very least, study what the CATO Institute says on the Bush Patriot Act.
It's sad because the Rightwing voter never finds out what Ron Paul thinks about the Wars on Drugs/Terrorism. Much of what I know about the expansion of Government power through these strategic "wars" comes from Ron Paul and CATO. Unfortunately, Limbaugh, Hannity and the Rightwing press NEVER covers it.
To understand the growth of Big Government, you must understand the truth about Regan and Bush. And you don't need to listen to Rachel Maddow. You can find out the truth from Ron Paul. Just listen carefully to what he says about Washington's Wars, both foreign and domestic. Whenever Washington declares War (on Poverty, Terrorism, Obesity, Drugs), they are merely creating more power for themselves.
The Left expands government by saying: "Hi, I'm from the government and I'm here to help"
The Right expands government by saying: "Hi, I'm from the government and I'm here to protect you."
Problem is: the Right doesn't understand how their leaders have contributed to the concentration of Washington's power. This is why the single biggest obstruction to fixing the problem is Talk Radio and FOX. Point is: you would never hear Limbaugh or Hannity explain how the Wars on Drugs/Terrorism have grown Wahsington's power more than anything else. So a question arises: how do we as a nation set the rightwing voter free? How do we get them more information about what is really happening?
