Aula Orientalis 25 (2007) 237-254 237 The Gilgameš epic at Ugarit Andrew R. George − London [Fourteen years ago came the announcement that several twelfth-century pieces of the Babylonian poem of Gilgameš had been excavated at Ugarit, now Ras Shamra on the Mediterranean coast. This article is written in response to their editio princeps as texts nos. 42–5 in M.

Daniel Arnaud’s brand-new collection of Babylonian library tablets from Ugarit (Arnaud 2007). It takes a second look at the Ugarit fragments, and considers especially their relationship to the other Gilgameš material.] The history of the Babylonian Gilgameš epic falls into two halves that roughly correspond to the second and first millennia BC respectively.1

Oh look, you continue to be bitch slapped.

And the "loving god" ordered the murder of their innocent children. What a great fucking guy, huh?
That’s because they were so morally rotten God did not want them to influence Israel. They were sexual pervs and did child sacrifices.

Ironically, but not surprisingly, the Jews ended up becoming just like the Canaanites when they abandoned God and his covenant with them (again).

It’s pretty much the same story of the Old Testament over and over, mankind/Jews start off good, then forget God and give into pride and vanity and all the wonderful sins that follow, until it leads to their destruction. Only to have the few survivors redeem themselves and start over.

There's no point in trying to explain why the Old Testament God ordered the Israelites to commit genocide on the people who already lived in the Promised Land.

The whole thing will make you lose your faith if you think about it, so it's better not to think about it.
Wrong. Purging evil is at times required. They were sexual pervs and sacrificed children. It was a barbaric time and barbaric measures were necessary.

Most scholars think the Jews were landless Canaanites from Syria.

The Canaanites descended from Canaan (Noah's black grandson).
The Israelites descended from Jacob (who descended from Shem).

If you can't recognize the truth you will always be lost. It's all a lie, created by men wanting power over their own people.

The yoke of religion is lighter than the yoke of sin (been there, done that).

That's a lot of fools.Whover said human beings were an intelligent race of beings was obviously joking.
Humans are indeed fools, but not because they believe in God. You'll find that most of man's foolishness takes place outside of the church.
