Generally a bad movie.

Premise: A cavern full of reptilian bat-like creatures are unleashed to the world when a group of cave explorers find and unseal the cavern. The reptilian bats are about the size of eagles. They are blind, but like bats they use a form of sonar to guild themselves when they fly. They attack anything making a sound. In the movie, they nearly drive humans to extinction in just a few weeks.

Flaws I could not get over: 1. There is no way such creatures could survive sealed for eons without a source of prey for food and be numerous enough to pose an extinction threat to humans. 2. Overlooking flaw number 1, the R-bats were much too stupid to pose an extinction threat to us humans. How hard could it be to build a bunch of giant R-bat zappers to electrocute the mf-ers?

We saw it some time ago. Another lame attempt at spreading political propaganda through horror fiction. When people are racist and evil even scarier monsters will come and get them. Something like that.

Just repeat to yourself, it's just a show, I should really just relax."

Political ideology figures prominently in many (if not most) sci fi movies. Fear of nuclear holocaust is a recurring theme, "Panic in the Year Zero". The dangers of radiation on the environment in general, "Godzilla", "Them!", etc.

The rapid advance of technology, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Forbidden Planet".

The series, "Star Trek", took many a political or philosophical concept and put it into science fiction drama for a change of perspective.

One of the best Science Fiction movies ever, namely "Invasion of the Body Snatcher" (1956) was an allegory about the threat of Communist infiltration.

The list goes on and on.
