He was in office for 4 years, and now for months. If there was good reason to make their statement, they should have been able to come up with at least a plausible example of an illegal order they believe he would issue. After all, how many times have congresscritters gone public reminding the armed forces they don't have to obey illegal orders? At this point, they would have been just as justified to have made the statement this time two years ago.

We finally have a president willing to fight the war on drugs. That is going to require both the military and intelligence agencies. If you notice, there is no real public outcry about taking out these smugglers. A few loud folks, but nothing in the general public. The most likely dissidents are too busy rioting for illegal alien rapists, murderers, and child molesters.

Venezuela is a good starting point strategically and politically. Far enough remove both physically from the US and politically as to reduce widespread complaints. Their criminal organizations are fairly new and not nearly as established as others, like the Mexican cartels. Removing them now makes sense. It also sets a blueprint for moving forward.

Personally I think we should eliminate the CIA. Part of its core mission is fatally flawed. Turn people into traitors then trust those people. It is proven time and again to be a failed method. So I do not have blind trust in all of our intelligence agencies. We should rely more on technology than human intelligence. Technology doesn't lie, people do.
