The modern world is gauged by streamlined commerce and 'normalized industrialization,' processes that can dangerously make humanity oblivious to ecosystem sensitivity.
Industrialization is why the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) was formed, and urbanization is why Social Security was so wise for President FDR.
We can 'debate' such points, but in the end, the mass transit and traffic associated with modern industry creates a profiteerism consciousness that can literally numb our sense of cost-benefit evaluation.
Is America becoming a nation of gamblers? Hopefully the Trump administration will refute such a critique.
It is therefore prudent to consider how much we value evaluative institutions such as the Library of Congress and who is responsible for reviewing the annual reliability of the FDA and where citizens can access (and receive help understanding) such vital reports.
This should be the real challenge of the Trump administration, but are we sure that such criterion are being considered by the new American President in the selection of his new cabinet (and other advisers)?

TRUMP: I'm being accused of nepotism, Carter!
CARTER: Well, you're selecting family members as advisers, sir.
TRUMP: Shouldn't the new age of commerce remind us of family values?
CARTER: Some claim there's a difference between 'spheres of influence' and nepotism.
TRUMP: Who would you trust to advise you about the FDA in this new age?
CARTER: Well, not necessarily my mother, sir.
TRUMP: True, but I don't want a Salmonella outbreak caused by neo-communism.
CARTER: Be sure then sir to elucidate the mechanisms of family values.
TRUMP: Do you eat Chinese food, Carter?
CARTER: Who doesn't?
TRUMP: Well, someone should study Chinese food/immigration at the Library of Congress!
CARTER: Let's not create panic...
