Never trust a Mormon interp of the Holy Bible. But... faith is personal, so you do you.

You accept your prophets on faith. Your BoM and Bible on faith unless certain artifact verify something. But you do you, and that is cool.

But I think men will abuse women far more than they do us.

Polygamy is abuse in our culture.

Fortunately, God does not care what you think. He's God of the universe and sets the standards of good and right. With that said, God also established what we must do and that is to uphold and sustain the law of the land. So, we do in all lands that the Church exists in. That's 160 of the 195 nations around the world. So, when Utah decided to join the United States of America, the Church had to make changes concerning polygamy to sustain the law of the land as required by God.
