The rest of the world cheats us and Trump said, ‘No more.’

Democrats have sabotaged American industry and have made it almost impossible to operate in America as part of their plan to intentionally collapse America.

Democrats support other countries having tariffs on America

Democrats = traitors
Are you fucking retarded?

American industry went away because REpublicans signed bad trade deals, Republicans busted unions, and Republicans destroyed the middle class.

Well, no there's no reason for them to.

Most European Cars are made in the US, and if we started pricing them out of the range of American consumers it will just put Americans out of jobs. (They'll still have plenty of customers in the rest of the world)

Well, no there's no reason for them to.

Are they afraid of a little competition?

How would putting a tariff on an imported car put a domestic job at risk?

Um, they do that because our cars suck, and their cars are kind of awesome.

You compile a list of "the worst Cars ever made," and it's usually all American Models except for the Yugo.

Someone in Detroit thought the Pinto, the Chevette, the Gremlin were all good ideas.

Something they'd never consider in Bremen or Yokohama.

The reality is that most German and Japanese cars sold in the American Market now are made in the US, while most "American" cars sold in the US are made in Mexico.

How is it that Germans make better cars than us? Didn't we steal all their scientists?

🤔

In Germany? How much is an American Pick Up Truck in Germany?
An American Pick Up Truck, isn't classified in majority as a car in Germany but as a Truck - e.g. once the loading area is bigger then the passenger cabin area.
Due to exorbitant fuel consumption, environmental burden, and rainy weather conditions. Not to mention that European roads are smaller then US roads (especially countryside roads) and the injury index of a Pick Up colliding with pedestrian or cyclist is 90% higher, and the fatality index even 200% higher then with a car. As such Pick Up's pose a danger to traffic in Europe.

Therefore the insurance and road tax for a US Pick-Up is a whopper in Germany - costs you as much as for a Porsche Turbo.

Due to all this, Pick Up's are not being sought for in Europe. totally independent of the price or tariffs.
Trumps advisors know this very well - and that is also why he only brought up Pick Up's into his silly import/export number comparison.

E.g. a Dogde Ram 1500 5,7-l-Hemi-V8, costs in Germany around US$ 75,000. Same as a VW Amarok Diesel 3.0L V6 with 241 HP. or it's Ford pendant the Ford Ranger Raptor V6. Both being produced in South Africa!!

BTW - a gallon of premium in Germany costs around US$8.- so much for US guzzling engines being attractive.

And this goes to show that the US manufacturers in the USA don't understand nor respect market requirements in e.g. Europe or e.g. China. But ignorantly propagate that a car or truck that sells well in the USA - must also sell well in other countries.

As for CARS
A Ford Mustang 5.0 Ti-VCT V8 Dark Horse, fully loaded, (My friend in Germany got one) costs in Germany around US$78,000 - whilst a comparable BMW, Audi or Mercedes will cost you around US$ 130,000

So as stated before - the price (incl. import tax) isn't the issue for the e.g. Mustang to be a niche car in Germany.

The by far most favored middle, upper-middle-class cars in Germany are touring model's aka estate-station wagons - e.g. my BMW 330dX touring M-sport costs around US$ 80,000. The average price for station wagons in Europe or Germany (middle class) is around US$ 50,000
So do feel free to tell me which US produced estate/station-wagon, am I or other Germans supposed to buy - that would also match my BMW or any other middle class station wagon???? - the USA got NONE to offer.

BTW - why does a F-35A cost the USAF around US$ 90 million, the Swiss air-force US$ 170 million and the German Luftwaffe US$ 240 million??? you guys ripping us off???

Your Trump can sell you guys for stupid with his trivial number games - but not Europeans or the German population for that matter.

Looks like you cherry picked the Mustang. How about a Ford Escape?

:auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:

The Ford Escape is called Ford Kuga in Europe and Germany - and is build by Ford in SPAIN - Valencia
And there are NO tariffs within the EU.

And a Honda CR-V, a Renault Kajar, a Mazda CX-5, or a Skoda (VW group) Karoq - cost the same as a Kuga. +- 10%

BTW - the engine Ecoboost-Three-cylinder (150 HP) was devolved by Ford-Germany and Ford-Dunton UK.

Anything else?

How much does it cost?

How much does it cost?
Between US$ 40 - 50,000 in Germany
Between US$ 25 - 40,000 in Spain
Between US$ 25 - 40,000 in Italy
All three do NOT charge any Import-tax due to being produced and sold in the EU.

Between US$ 28 - 40,000 in the USA

Add in the transportation costs and technical upgrades/features required by the EU and a US import version will cost the same as the one in Germany.

As for the price setting - feel free to contact FORD USA.

However it is a known fact that cars in Germany are sold at around 20% higher prices, then in other European countries - simply due to German cars being pricier.

Need more help?
Your Trump is a bullshitter - that's all.

So, Ford builds Escapes in Europe in order to avoid the EU tariffs. How does that help the American autoworkers and the US economy?

The USA is oh has 4x the population and 15x the land mass of Germany. our fuel prices are lower, they don't do F-150's there so it's just a matter of common sense.
rich snobs think their Audi, BMW and MB don't stink.....they have the $$ for their money pits because they look good, drive great and are a status.

I don't think the german people look at it in the same idea when they have mercedes taxi's

it's just a locally made car to get around, not be in some rappers videos

So, Ford builds Escapes in Europe in order to avoid the EU tariffs. How does that help the American autoworkers and the US economy?
No - e.g. Ford USA build factories all over the world because countries like South-Africa, Brazil, Mexico, China, India, etc. are far cheaper to produce then in the USA. And when they set up the plant in Spain - Spain was also far cheaper then the USA and still is.

Ford & GM had set up their plants in Germany in the 1920/30'ies and never managed to get a hold of the market in Germany nor Europe - despite a very strong market in Germany and especially the UK till the mid 70'ies.
Those models that were popular they stopped the production - and those they decided to build simply didn't meet the customer requirements and expectations.

It doesn't matter as to where e.g. Ford builds it's cars - their models are simply not sought for in e.g. Germany, or Europe or Asia
Ford can't even sell their models in INDIA :smoke:

Ford India Private Limited was a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company for its operations in India. Ford India Private Limited's headquarter were located in Sholinganallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Ford also had operated integrated manufacturing facilities in Sanand, Gujarat.[3] On September 9, 2021, Ford exited the Indian market as it failed to keep up with the competition, and other global economic factors had led to reduction in demand.[4] On 8 August 2022, Ford announced it would be selling its manufacturing plant in the western state of Gujarat for INR 7.26 billion (approximately US$91.5 million) to Tata Motors.

So why does a F-35A cost US$ 90 million for the USAF, US$ 170 million for Switzerland and US$ 240 million for Germany?????
How does this help the German/European aerospace industry???

Um, they do that because our cars suck, and their cars are kind of awesome.

Their awesome cars will easily out compete our sucky cars at a 0% tariff.
So, they can drop their tariff to 0%.
Right, assembled in MEXICO and U.S. BMW and Audi are just peachy. Then there's the $200 oil changes and ridiculous maintenance and repair costs. I'm pretty sure Europe would scarf up our affordable cars like candy.

Did Germany place tariffs on US automobiles in the 1920/30's?

So, Ford builds Escapes in Europe in order to avoid the EU tariffs. How does that help the American autoworkers and the US economy?

Ford Escapes are junk. I have a friend that had one, it was a money pit

Did Germany place tariffs on US automobiles in the 1920/30's?
I wouldn't know

But, the two tariff acts passed by the U.S. government in the 1920s and 30s were the Fordney-McCumber Tariff Act (1922) and the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act (1930)
Whereby The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act is nowadays widely blamed for worsening the severity of the Great Depression in the U.S. and around the world.

In order to protect it's own rising industrial prowess and to counter the British trade war (Forcing Germany to mark it's products with MADE in GERMANY) so as to boycott or/and to heavily tax them - Germany started introducing own tariffs from the 1880s onward.

So, Ford builds Escapes in Europe in order to avoid the EU tariffs. How does that help the American autoworkers and the US economy?

The same way that Nissan and Volkswagen building cars in the US avoids US tariffs.

Assembling a car near where it's going to be sold is actually more practical than shipping a completed car across the ocean.
