The MLB, NFL and NBA (the big three American sports rackets) are in disrepute for a whole lot of reasons.
The age of the rackets.
Overpaid performers.
Scandal and the disconnect between the performers and the wider society.
Ripoff merchandise.
Unjustly high ticket prices.
Cheating.
Spoilsport and unsportsmanlike, hostile fans.
Violent venues.
Lack of globalization and global participation.
According to Nielsen, two of the three continue to be the #1 TV Program watched by Blacks.
This is several decades behind the trends of white people in the USA.
TV "Wrestling" has been in free fall for decades now and it is in disrepute and it has been for a while for a lot of reasons.

The high cost to the performers (other than money).
The lack of worker's rights.
The abuse of the performers by management.
Deaths and injuries to children caused by a lack of any warning that the performers in the program are paid professional stuntmen who have been trained and have experience.
The lack of the warning is driven by the desire by the promoters to keep the secret that it is fake.
Investigations by both the Department of Labor and by investigative journalism uncovering what was a long time ago a secret kept by the industry, which was that it was all a fake phony act and much more than that, the performers are underpaid, disposable slaves and pawns.
The #1 viewers of it today according to Nielsen? Blacks and those below the poverty line and increasingly the elderly as the boomers age and generation X approaches legal senior citizenship status.
