A startling coincidence…..the reductions in reported deaths due to the four usual causes just happen to be the number now reported due to the Chinese flu, and patients with those conditions just happened to have DNRs (do not resuscitate), and would have died with or without the virus.

That poll seems to be a better indication that the elites are the only ones truly fearful of the Capitol protest vs. what happened in other cities throughout 2020.

Regardless of how you feel about the election, the hyperbolic rhetoric concerning the Capitol protest only seems to resonate with the far left.

More than anything, I think the push for making an example out of the Capitol protesters vs. the charges being dropped for Portland protesters is simple in its motivation.

The elites want to make sure that the public is loyal to the feds. There's been an ongoing theme in American history where the feds have slowly pushed the masses more towards this. When we started out as a country, most people were focused on the affairs of their local area or state. We still felt loyalty toward the nation as a whole, but our identity was more related to the state we lived in. The first major shift against this came after the Civil War ended. States were no longer part of a voluntary union. You have to ask permission to leave now.

WWI and WWII were the next big pushes for a national identity. It's ironic to think about it in today's context, but FDR's era was one of the most nationalistic of any, despite the current Democrats being the more globalist of the 2 parties.

By now, it's a matter of valuing DC over various cities that suffered from riots last year. The Capitol is more important than the plebs in Portland, Seattle, Kenosha, or Minneapolis. We can downplay and ignore those riots, but how dare anyone endanger our precious Congress members. How dare we threaten an area just a few blocks from where many of our beloved lobbyists do business (K Street).

Of course, what the media is pushing is a bit different from nationalism. It's about love for government, not love for the country itself. Plenty on the left are declaring the protesters "traitors", but love of country does not require love of government. The difference can be seen in the Founders. They loved the communities they lived in, but they hated British rule. Plenty of people feel the equivalent now. We love America but hate the feds.

But love of country doesn't matter to the elite. The government is what they love, because it gives them everything they want. And if anyone threatens that, they must be shamed and imprisoned.
