A Lubbock grand jury indicted a 28-year-old man Tuesday in the July beating death of a local lawyer. Jestin Hooker is accused in the July 23 slaying of 61-year-old Steven Wallace at the law office at which both men were staying. Wallace died of blunt force trauma, according to the Lubbock County medical examiner. Hooker is being charged with a felony count of murder, court records show. -

Police Man Stabs Girlfriend To Death Commits Suicide CBS Baltimore
BALTIMORE — The stabbing death of Baltimore woman was the result of domestic violence, police say. Police say 23-year-old Rebecca Ann Coughenour was stabbed to death last Thursday by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Brandon Jerome Nowlin. Coughenour and Nowlin had been in a relationship for the last several years. They have a prior history of domestic violence reported. Detectives say Nowlin was last seen in the 5500-block of the Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville. He has found dead by apparent suicide last Thursday afternoon.

NEW YORK — Police say one man has been arrested and charged for an alleged assault on a jogger in Central Park on August 1
8. Edward J. Fall, 20, was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon as part of a hate crime, according to police. Police say due to further investigation, Fall has been charged with another similar assault where a 34-year-old jogger was hit in the head with a pellet gun near Central Park North and East Drive. He faces the same charges of assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon. That incident occurred on Sunday, August 17 around 9:05 p.m., according to police. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident as a possible hate crime after police say the woman was shot in the back of the head with a BB gun. The victim said what they said to her next, she says, was a mix of expletives, and “white people should die.” -

Two felons are being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond after they allegedly carjacked an 85-year-old woman and snatched her purse, causing her to sustain injuries, according to an arrest report. Minutes earlier, the two men attempted to carjack a tourist but were unsuccessful. Bernard R. Dixon of Riviera Beach and Garry Lormejuste, who has no fixed addresses, are each facing charges of robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon. Riviera Beach Police met with a Massachusetts woman Wednesday morning who said two men had attempted to open her door while flashing a handgun. She had pulled over to look at her GPS when the men attempted to enter her car. The woman was able to speed away and call police. Both suspects fled the area toward a food store, where they allegedly carjacked the 85-year-old victim, taking her Buick and purse. The woman was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, the report said. Dixon, 28, has been arrested 18 times. Lormejuste has been arrested 10 times.

Hammond was found with a gunshot wound around 4 a.m. that day, and was pronounced dead at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township. According to Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the two men forced their way into the mobile home, shot Hammond and fled the scene. On April 12, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 21-year-old Marshaun M. Ligon of Painesville. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office identified Ligon as a “person of interest” in the homicide case and he remains in custody at the Lake County Jail on a separate contempt of court charge, according to jail records.

According the Orange County Sheriff’s office William Baker Bibb a Caucasian from Texas, killed and dragged Theresa Ardoin’s body a quarter of a mile down a road and threw her body in a ditch. Investigators said that Bibb confessed to the killing by beating Ardoin to death with a hammer, and then tying her body with a rope to his truck and dragged her to a sand pit. The accused claimed that the two of them were friendly and were meeting to do drugs and then have sex. They argued and he hit her with the hammer thus killing her. The authorities are not calling this crime a hate crime at this time.
If as you untruthfully assert, that the news only reports white on black crime, then why didn't we hear about this??
I know why it wasn't classified as a hate crime, why aren't you that bright??

She is described as a white female, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. Beard was last seen accompanied by Dewayne Thompson, who is described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds. They were last seen traveling in a light gray or silver 2009 Nissan Altima with a Greene County license plate that reads GRF 293. They were heading east on Lynda Street in Jackson. According to police, Beard was shot and her life could be in danger. Thomas is considered armed and dangerous. He's being charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, and auto theft. Monday night, Thompson was seen leading officers around a field in the Pocahontas area, but there is no clarification or information to confirm what this was about. Crews are back out at that scene on Joe Coker road this morning. Our reporter on the scene says several bags and clothes have been pulled out of the woods. JPD confirms they've found her clothes in this search.

KANSAS CITY, MO - A man previously accused in a double murder is now a suspect in the Northland Motel 6 assaults and is a person of interest in a deadly south Kansas City crime spree that left three dead and two injured. Brandon B. Howell, 34, is in police custody and was the man arrested late Tuesday walking along Interstate 29 after a massive manhunt. Howell is suspected of assaulting three Motel 6 guests after ditching an SUV stolen from the scene where three residents were fatally shot and two others were critically injured after they were nearly beaten to death. The suspect has an extensive criminal record including first-degree murder, kidnapping, robbery, assault and animal abuse charges in both Kansas and Missouri. However, he has not been convicted of all of those accused crimes.

Dante Bonner shot and wounded officer Christopher Kertis in East Liberty in March of 2013. Bonner pleaded guilty to attempted homicide, recklessly endangering another person, carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, unlawfully possessing a firearm and assaulting a law enforcement officer in June. Police said Bonner was among a group of people causing a disturbance at the Sunoco gas station on Frankstown Road in Homewood while officers Kertis and Charles Thomas were working a traffic detail about 3:45 a.m. on March 17, 2013. Bonner and three other people got into a blue Dodge Avenger, which the officers later pulled over. Bonner ran from the car, and Kertis ran after him. During the chase, Kertis tripped over a parking barrier, breaking both of his wrists, and Bonner fired a gun and struck the officer twice in the left leg. Kertis and Thomas returned fire, hitting Bonner several times in the upper torso. Kertis, who joined the force in 2011, received the Above and Beyond Award for heroism for his actions. -

For Mirella Masciarelli, her son, Mario Masciarelli, was "a wonderful gift," who loved Motocross racing and relished spending time with family. But Judge Joseph Cawley had nothing but scathing words for Aaron Powell, 40, before sentencing the Binghamton man Wednesday to the maximum penalty of life in state prison without the possibility of parole. He was sentenced for the murders of Christina Powell, 35, and Mario Masciarelli, 24, in the Town of Binghamton last year. "You are a cold-blooded killer," Cawley said. "In prison, I hope you and your soul, if you still have one, are tormented by the images of what you did." Aaron Powell was found guilty on July 24 of strangling his estranged wife, Christina Powell, with a white electrical cord, and beating her friend, Mario Masciarelli, to death with a baseball bat on March 22, 2013, at her Lisi Lane home. That Aaron Powell stalked both victims, beat to death a man he had never met and strangled the life out of the mother of his 5-year-old son, Sergio, was "nothing short of pure evil," Cawley said at Wednesday's sentencing.

Aaron Powell was found guilty on July 24 of strangling his estranged wife, Christina Powell, with a white electrical cord, and beating her friend, Mario Masciarelli, to death with a baseball bat on March 22, 2013, at her Lisi Lane home. That Aaron Powell stalked both victims, beat to death a man he had never met and strangled the life out of the mother of his 5-year-old son, Sergio, was "nothing short of pure evil," Cawley said at Wednesday's sentencing.

A Tampa man suspected of murder turned himself in to deputies today, more than a month after another man was shot to death at a house in Gibsonton. Clayton Adrian White, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in the July 16 shooting of Andrew Edie, 48, at 11201 Inglewood Drive in Gibsonton, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said. A woman who was at the house told deputies that someone knocked on the front door and when Edie answered he was shot once, the sheriff’s office said. In July, deputies said the shooting was apparently “drug related.” Detectives had been actively searching for White, which led to him surrendering at the jail.
