CDZ The Party of Trump will be Gone some Day, what then?

You blame us for not making inroads into minority vote, in the same post you smear us as racist.

YOu ever think about what such vile tactics are doing to this country?

OE is wrong about what is happening. I pointed out the similarities of what created the JBS in 1958. I also pointed out one of the founding members was Fred Trump. That means that Rump....

Stopped reading here. You want to make a point, make it. YOu want to just pepper the boards with partisan spin bullshit, do it with someone else.

Go back and try again. Or not. Whatever.

Why, because history disagrees with your fantasy world? I took a good look at Trumps formative years and his Fathers history. And his actions are explained. What isn't explained is your actions. But then again, it's a tradition to lie about being a JBS member so I get it. Even if you don't know you are, your actions are right down that line. So get over it. If you don't like it, rejoin the real GOP but you already insulted all of them and they probably don't want you back. But in the very near future, The GOP is going to be in charge of the Republican Party and having to rebuild a very fractured party while you are left in the wind. At the same time, the Extremists in the Democrat Party will not have anyone to counter their actions. Thanks a friggin lot for selling America down the pike. But some of us don't accept that.

But the first thing to fix a problem is to realize there is a problem. You seem to lack that.

Well, thanks for not talking like a baby, for one post in a row.

Not sure what your point there was, other than to restate your assertion.

My point stands. People like you smear us as racist, 24/7, and then have the unmitigated gall to blame us for failing to make inroads into the minority vote.

With the media and pop culture constantly soaked in lies from the left, our ability to be heard, is very limited.

There is really not much we can do about that. You people are successfully tearing this country apart.

IT is good for your partisan and political agenda, but bad for everyone els and the country as a whole.

So you go right back to blaming everyone else. So be it and it follows the history. Thank you for qualifying what I am saying. Couldn't do it without your help.

The Party of Trump will be Gone some Day, what then?

It may happen in 2020, or Jan of 2021 or even Jan 2025 but it's going to happen. What then? Let's face it, you can't call the Party of Trump the Republican Party. The Republican Party is pretty much silent these days. When Trump leaves, it's going to leave a huge vacuum. Let's face it, a person like Trump only comes along once in a hundred years or so. Don't look for a replacement from the Party of Trump. There isn't one. It's one man. And when his time runs out, the Party is gone. The same thing happened to the Patriot Party with Perot.

So we need to rebuild the Republican Party. Where do we start? Obviously, there are going to be a lot of casualties in the process of those Rs that became staunch members of the Party of Trump and dare to call themselves Republicans. Some will weather it and others won't. I predict that the GOP would be forced to bring up an old hand for 2020 if Trump is out of the Picture and even in 2024 and that would be Paul Ryan. But that would not be a winner either. While I think it would be a good choice, the Trumpers will be seething and light the place on fire rather than vote for Paul Ryan. So even if Trump does go to 2024, the Republican Party is dead.

That means, it must be rebuilt for the 2028 year. And even then, there may still be enough of the hate and venom left that even 2028 may be a bad year for the Republicans. And I don't mean the Party of Trump which dies Politically when Trump leaves office. Like I said before, the party of Trump is one man and only one man and another one like him is not going to be seen for another hundred years in America.

What we need to do is start to rebuild now as a 3rd Party as the Republican Party. Call it "The New Republican Party" adopting the old GOP planks and ideologies. One of the other posters posted what the GOP once stood for and I hope he reposts it again here.

This isn't about the Democrat Party. It's about rebuilding the Republican Party back to the days it once was the Grand Old Party. Let the Democrat Party do whatever the hell it wants to do. But we need to rebuild back to the days of Ike.

Let's hear some constructive inputs on this one. Sorry, it's not about the party of Trump or the Democrat Party. It's about the rebuilding of the GOP to the time it earned the name of GOP.

You want The Republican Party to simply be Democrat Lite.

Hopefully we have learned that's a non starter.

I want the Republican Party (GOP) to start representing the People. Simple as that. I don't look for the Democrats to do a very good job of that since they really don't have any great incentive to do it. Just like I don't expect the Party of Trump to do it either. The only option would be a completely different 3rd party come into power to replace the Republican Party and we all know that just ain't going to happen.

You are simply a malcontent - it's allowed, there are a lot of ya.
No one (in either party) has represented the People like President Trump.
Reagan represented the correct ideas and was a close second - but he was still establishment.

I think the days of quiet, considered conservatism are gone. Now the Republican party has become the political equivalent of the WWE. People seem to be attracted to spectacle rather than consistent political positions. Once Trump and his cult of personality is gone, who knows what will happen. Will they go back to stodgy traditional politicians or will they go to another brash personality? I'm betting on the loudest and dumbest pol they can find. Doubt it will be some milquetoast like Pence.

This is something we all have the power to form. I think a bit of stodgy would be welcomed after the WWE Barnum and Bailey routine. It was good in the 50s and back (with the exception of the FDR Dynasty)

Hate to break it to you, but this country is already torn apart. It's so bad it's down right dysfunctional and has been for many years. And I don't blame any one party. I blame the people that own the parties lock stock and barrel. Both of them. Both parties have lost their way. The last time both the Dems and the Reps were a good party was during the Eisenhower/Truman days.

That's really not true at all. The D's were fighting against Civil Rights tooth and nail, and they also fought the GOP's 1947 Labor Law reform called "Taft Hartley". The R's were fighting among themselves as well. Mr. Republican Robert Taft and Ike fought for the 1952 nomination, General Eisenhower only entered the race to preempt General MacArthur from becoming President.

Can you tell us what the Democrat party has to offer America.....perhaps a comparison between the 2 and what one thinks will happen within the next 20 years or so, would be a benefit to all.

I don't think that either the party of Trump nor the Democratic Party should even enter into the discussion. It will just start or keep the eternal fight going. Let's face it, both existing parties really don't represent the majority anymore like the old GOP did in it's day. Ike represented America in a way that no President has even done since. And he laid the foundation even for the next two Democrat Presidents. And he even had a huge effect in some of what Reagan accomplished. Looking at the GOP during that time is the Gold Standard.
Ike was the last decent Republican President, IMHO.

That is why I am presenting turning the GOP back to the 1956 Republican Party Convention Plank. Right now, both sides hate it. It's too "Conservative" for one side while it's too "Socialist" for the other side. That tells me that it's just about right. If you can piss off both extreme groups at the same time then you are doing something right.

The R's were fighting among themselves as well. Mr. Republican Robert Taft and Ike fought for the 1952 nomination, General Eisenhower only entered the race to preempt General MacArthur from becoming President.

Ike was more or less "Drafted". He reluctantly entered the race. He once said concerning the Presidency, "If Elected I won't Serve". He was partial correct. If you totaled up all the Presidents (including Trump) for number of times and hours spent golfing during the 8 years of office you still would not even come close to Ike's record. When Ike was accused to being a Communist, one of the big heavies in the GOP answered, "He isn't a communist, he's a golfer". Behind the scenes was a man that never got the credit he deserved. The VP. Yes, Ike made the decisions but Nixon made it happen. Ike got all the recognition.

I think there are very few in USMB that realize just how important a good solid VP is to a President. And why Obama chose Biden. Or the losers that almost all of the VPs in recent history have been. It used to be that the VP was chosen to be the Next in line for President without the consideration of the Presidents death in office. The last President that did that was Reagan with Bush Sr. All the rest since have been losers for VP with the exception of Biden who had a lot to do with the Obama Administration (you can love it or hate it). Most Presidents are very inexperienced. The good ones pick strong VPs who would actually make better Presidents themselves. When something comes up and the President fails, oftentimes, a President will turn to the VP and say, "Handle it" and somehow it gets done because of the experience of the VP. Reagan did have that. McCain would not have had that. Nixon didn't have that. Carter, Ford, Bush Sr, Bush Jr, Clinton, and Trump. None of those have strong VPs that could actually take over the job in a seconds notice and lead with Brilliance. Eisenhower had that and he used it. If you haven't noticed I am avoiding todays politics. The Parties did not have to keep rebuilding every 4 to 8 years. It kept the kooks out.

Again, I stress the 1956 Republican Convention Plank. It must be a good thing. It equally pisses off today's extremists on both the right and the left equally. And when you can do that you have a winner.

Half the population? You certainly flatter yourself, there cupcake. Right now, only a fraction of the population on either side are being represented. The smaller group IS in charge. It sounds much bigger than it is. It's not bigger, it's just

LOUDER!!!!!!!!

Getting serious now. I think Sen. Romney or Kasich would be comfortable presenting that 1956 Rep Plank with minor changes. And If they were to be given the chance, many of the Moderate Rs would vote for them if it were presented correctly. The Dems would not have a leg to stand on. We haven't moved on, the extremists would like us to believe that. In reality, I think the majority of the American People would find the old GOP a much better fit than the extremist Dems or the Radical Party of Trump. But until the party of Trump runs it's course, we can't find out.

Your inability to address, let alone CHALLENGE, my point is noted.

Whenever someone disagrees with you and refuses to say exactly what you want them to then they are avoiding your question. Your question was answered, quite well, I might add. You just didn't like the answer.

You are falsely smearing half the population as racist, which pisses off EVERYONE.

Your actions are the cause of the problem, yours and all the other people doing the same actions.

That was my point, and you utterly failed to address it.

Your pretense that you did, was flat out lie.

Half the population? You certainly flatter yourself, there cupcake. Right now, only a fraction of the population on either side are being represented. The smaller group IS in charge. It sounds much bigger than it is. It's not bigger, it's just

LOUDER!!!!!!!!

You quibble over percentages when I was obviously making vast generalizations, in order to avoid addressing my point,

BECAUSE YOU KNOW MY ACTUALLY POINT IS COMPLETELY CORRECT.

You are falsely smearing half the population as racist, which pisses off EVERYONE.

Lot's of great ideas you present, Daryl. Any suggestions for how to get big money out of politics? Our politicians spend too much time begging for money for their next elections and satisfying the big donors.

Yes. Adopt the 1956 GOP Plank.
Republican Party Platform of 1956 | The American Presidency Project

We condemn illegal lobbying for any cause and improper use of money in political activities, including the use of funds collected by compulsion for political purposes contrary to the personal desires of the individual.

Think about what that says. The first stop is to rescind the Citizens United Pact. That had to be one of the dumbest and corrupt pieces of legislation I have ever seen. And that prompted the Supreme Court to have to make that stupid ruling about a Corporation IS an individual. The Supreme Court can only rule on what is on the books so they had no choice but to rule that way. The Citizens United bill was a bought and paid for by the Rich Corporations and Uber Rich people so they could completely buy our elections.

What would happen if the New (Old GOP) Republicans were to adopt the 1956 GOP Plank? Toss some more at me. I think that whomever wrote that Plank was just below the great writers of our Founding Fathers. But then again, America had just gone through a bloodless Revolution in 1952.

Citizens United is a court decision, not legislation. It can't just be "rescinded". As settled law, a decision would have to be made on a lawsuit that reaches the Supreme Court and it would have to be reversed.

Either that or a constitutional amendment.

Although, IMHO, the 2016 election experience tells me that money isn't nearly that important in elections. Mrs. Clinton outspent Mr. Trump by a huge margin and still got schlonged royally.

Do you really think that there are enough Moderate R's out there to carry the day and vanquish the Democrats in 2020 or beyond?

There may have been in the 1950's, but that was a long time ago. Mr. Romney and Mr. McCain were devoted moderates in 08 and 12, but couldn't do it, what makes you think the future would be so much different?

What to do after the party of trump is gone? I will be like Kevin Costner, at the end of the Untouchables, when asked what he would do when prohibition is over. He replied smiling "I think I'll have drink." :)

If it's a court decision then Congress can overturn it. It's not settle law. The Courts do not ma laws. They make rulings. And in the 2016 election, I saw millions of dollars even in the local elections coming in from outside the areas. It appears that you are just making excuses. I stand by the 1956 GOP Campaign Pact.

many of the Moderate Ds are actually old Moderate Rs from yester year. You are playing R v D and not giving the general public credit. Give them a real Candidate and a solid Plank and they'll do what's right. Or you can keep giving them the radical pieces of crap and they'll keep doing what they have done for the last 40 years.
